I'm having trouble understanding mid-latitude cyclones, could someone help me figure them out a bit more by answering these questions?

What is the top wind speed of mid-latitude cyclone?

What type of weather is associated with a mid-latitude cyclone?

What types of damage are associated with a mid-latitude cyclone?

What is the pressure center associated the mid-latitude cyclone?

Will someone please help…

hurricane katrina - flood water level

We're trying to put together a presentation in order to raise money for the Hurricane/Cyclone Sidr victims. What is a good way to find pictures?

I want to know how to track the remnants of hurricanes–not the hurricane itself. Like with Ike, where is that system now? Northern Europe? Asia?

I live near the ocean and my insurance company wants me to have "Pre-drilled" plywood for protection against hurricanes. has anyone done this before in CT?

Lets say the Hurricane Center just issued a severe weather alert for your area. . A category 5 hurricane is barreling down on your town. Would you disregard the warning or would you take heed to it and flee? I think anyone in their right mind would flee, considering what we saw from Katrina a couple of years back. But why then, when Christians warn you unbelivers of Gods wrath, which is much much more severe than a measly old category 5 hurricane..why dont you take heed and prepare yourself to escape it? You listen to the weather man…why not listen to us, we know more than the weather man. Its coming..and you better get ready.

Things like batteries, generators, bottled water and plywood which folks in Texas are now having the nerve to complain about stores running out of them?

Wouldn't it be a better idea to maintain a stash of these kinds of things in your attic so you wouldn't have to fight lines of 1a thousand people at Home Depot whenever there's a hurricane bearing down on you?
Fuzzy, batteries have a shelf life of at least five years. Bottled water could last at least a year if not more. When these items expire after a couple of years, you simply buy new ones. What's so hard about that?

Gee, I didn't know generators had shelf lives. Duhhhhh. I'll have to check the expiration date the next time I go to buy one. Don't want a stale generator.

Good grief.

I realize that people have a hard time buying their daily necessities but if they can't afford to maintain and replenish a simple and inexpensive emergency kit like this, then maybe they ought to consider food stamps.

I live in Miami and I think that it is good that we are under a tropical storm watch.. however still some models are forecasting it to not be so west of the forecast and if they don’t upgrade this thing now people won’t have anytime and will think oh its nothing much coming

Hurricane Katrina as it hits the Gulf Coast, shot by Warren Faidley. Faidley, recently called America’s “Top Storm Chaser” by MSNBC, is one of the few journalists and professional photographers who has witnessed and survived both an F-5 tornado and a category 5 hurricane. Warren is a best-selling author, motion picture consultant (Twister) and has appeared as a news consultant for CNN and Fox News. He is recognized as one of the top hands-on severe weather exerts. Unlike most storm chasers …

I am planning on moving to Florida, and I am thinking of moving to Wesley Chapel, Florida, or North Port. (North Port might be my highest choice)
But just to know, which part of Florida gets the most hurricane storms?
Also the house I was looking at is built up high on a non-flood zone, so I guess that's a little safe.

These look a little too dramatic to me, and I was wondering your opinion on whether they have been digitally altered.

Hi, everyone Apparently a tropical storm is going to hit Florida, and I want to know if I should keep my windows open or have them closed during the storm. I’ve heard two different sides to this, and hope someone could provide me with a solid explanation.

Thnx!

If someone in the Republican party had said this, they would have interrupted programming on NBC.

Hurricane Fay was devastating Florida, causing the death of several people and hundreds of millions of dollars in damage but Obama was busy, making sure that his shirt and tie didn’t clash with the carpeting at the coliseum. In Louisiana, Governor Jindhal and his bipartisan team sat down with officials from FEMA, state and local emergency disaster boards, working out evacuation routes, gas, food and water stations along the routes, and transportation and shelter for those without. Obama did…nothing!

Derek and I going to Alberta, a tornado appeared RIGHT in front of us… No zoom was used Manitoba Canada

I ask because my dad was a Navy Meteorologist during WW2, Korea, and Vietnam. He retired in 1969, and passed away in 1973 or I would ask him. I know weather satelites started to be used in the late 50’s, what about then?

So let’s say I can’t get/afford flood or hurricane insurance. My house would still be covered in case of a fire. So if my house got flooded by a hurricane, but it was on fire too, would I get paid out?

I live in the mountains and it snows here in the wintertime. There are four horses near my house that are boarded in a small pasture with some trees (oaks without leaves now, and pines with leaves). That is all they have for shelter. It has rained for two days straight and all four of the horses are soaked. The pasture is very very muddy. I am not familiar with horses and want to make sure that it is safe and ok for them to be out in the bad weather. Starting to snow now. ps we have wild horses on bureau of land mgmt property nearby and they are used to the weather so perhaps it is the same for the tame horses? Just worried about the horses. (I know who owns these horses and he brings them hay every single day so I know they are fed well. )

There are a million people down there freezing and he just had a big super bowl bash, the damage down there has surpassed damage done during hurricane Ike? Shouldn't he be doing something instead of partying it up with his buds? We donated money to the red cross but my husband and I have full time jobs and there is little else we can do, what is the presidents excuse? Could he not tell with that much ice forecasted that disaster would follow? Shouldn't have have stopped the storm somehow or acted sooner in the relief efforts?
Kristen I have to work unlike most of you libs, we donated money, what did you do?
Jim R who said anything about Katrina?

Heres your link
I am shocked by some of these answers from the libs, Bush was supposed to somehow change the direction of Katrina but when he failed to do so he is still to this day being bashed because so many people ignored warnings and stayed in their homes with a storm of that magnitude heading directly towards them, imagine if he had been at home having a party with his pals, some crazy liberal would have probably scaled the white house walls and shot him. You guys are such hypocrites…such hypocrites!
Thx Goldwater ;)

This three minute trailer highlights TornadoVideos.net’s South Dakota Tornado Fest DVD, featuring 1 hour of non-stop tornado insanity, including the infamous HUGE Manchester wedge video, which has been called the most amazing tornado footage of all time!

I moved to a hurricane prone area, from an area that doesn’t get hurricanes, and need to make a hurricane kit before hanna comes. I have a service dog and cat. what would you suggest putting in a hurricane kit? I know i need food and water for all 3 of us, a first aide kit, but what else??

thanks
also what do you need to bring with you to the shelters? do you bring food or do they feed you for example.

or both and would there be a change in the equilibrium?

Can someone please help me find a website that gives the number of hurricanes that develop per year?

what do they do
what are they about and how do they relate to weather forecasts?

Im working with my dad putting up shutters and i was wondering what would be a good amount payment for me to have enough to buy an xbox 360
