It’s already August and still not so much as a tropical storm has made landfall. It’s almost as if Mother Earth is granting us immunity after Katrina.
But I mean, come on.. at least one category 1 to give me a few days off of work. And we just got new hurricane shutters.
What do you guys think?
Anyone who owns a business in New Orleans or Gulf Coast of the US should have hard time digesting that so many poor African Americans have been mistreated after the hurricane.
How can you all sleep at night and let this problem continue TO THIS DAY????
To make it worse, corporate folks made big dollars off of FEMA contractors who gave free trailors and big money to businesses to supply for needy people, yet the money should have gone to the poor starving families.
How can you people sleep at night and not feel terrible over this?
My wife put tape on the windows of our home because of an approaching hurricane. The storm is gone but its hell removing the tape. Its the clear kind that you would use to tape closed a box before you mail it. Any advice?
Did you ever read the Global Cooling article?

There are ominous signs that the Earth’s weather patterns have begun to change dramatically and that these changes may portend a drastic decline in food production– with serious political implications for just about every nation on Earth. The drop in food output could begin quite soon, perhaps only 10 years from now. The regions destined to feel its impact are the great wheat-producing lands of Canada and the U.S.S.R. in the North, along with a number of marginally self-sufficient tropical areas – parts of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indochina and Indonesia – where the growing season is dependent upon the rains brought by the monsoon.
The evidence in support of these predictions has now begun to accumulate so massively that meteorologists are hard-pressed to keep up with it. In England, farmers have seen their growing season decline by about two weeks since 1950, with a resultant overall loss in grain production estimated at up to 100,000 tons annually. During the same time, the average temperature around the equator has risen by a fraction of a degree – a fraction that in some areas can mean drought and desolation. Last April, in the most devastating outbreak of tornadoes ever recorded, 148 twisters killed more than 300 people and caused half a billion dollars’ worth of damage in 13 U.S. states.
To scientists, these seemingly disparate incidents represent the advance signs of fundamental changes in the world’s weather. Meteorologists disagree about the cause and extent of the trend, as well as over its specific impact on local weather conditions. But they are almost unanimous in the view that the trend will reduce agricultural productivity for the rest of the century. If the climatic change is as profound as some of the pessimists fear, the resulting famines could be catastrophic. “A major climatic change would force economic and social adjustments on a worldwide scale,” warns a recent report by the National Academy of Sciences, “because the global patterns of food production and population that have evolved are implicitly dependent on the climate of the present century.”
A survey completed last year by Dr. Murray Mitchell of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reveals a drop of half a degree in average ground temperatures in the Northern Hemisphere between 1945 and 1968. According to George Kukla of Columbia University, satellite photos indicated a sudden, large increase in Northern Hemisphere snow cover in the winter of 1971-72. And a study released last month by two NOAA scientists notes that the amount of sunshine reaching the ground in the continental U.S. diminished by 1.3% between 1964 and 1972.
To the layman, the relatively small changes in temperature and sunshine can be highly misleading. Reid Bryson of the University of Wisconsin points out that the Earth’s average temperature during the great Ice Ages was only about seven degrees lower than during its warmest eras – and that the present decline has taken the planet about a sixth of the way toward the Ice Age average. Others regard the cooling as a reversion to the “little ice age” conditions that brought bitter winters to much of Europe and northern America between 1600 and 1900 – years when the Thames used to freeze so solidly that Londoners roasted oxen on the ice and when iceboats sailed the Hudson River almost as far south as New York City.
Just what causes the onset of major and minor ice ages remains a mystery. “Our knowledge of the mechanisms of climatic change is at least as fragmentary as our data,” concedes the National Academy of Sciences report. “Not only are the basic scientific questions largely unanswered, but in many cases we do not yet know enough to pose the key questions.”
Meteorologists think that they can forecast the short-term results of the return to the norm of the last century. They begin by noting the slight drop in overall temperature that produces large numbers of pressure centers in the upper atmosphere. These break up the smooth flow of westerly winds over temperate areas. The stagnant air produced in this way causes an increase in extremes of local weather such as droughts, floods, extended dry spells, long freezes, delayed monsoons and even local temperature increases – all of which have a direct impact on food supplies.
“The world’s food-producing system,” warns Dr. James D. McQuigg of NOAA’s Center for Climatic and Environmental Assessment, “is much more sensitive to the weather variable than it was even five years ago.” Furthermore, the growth of world population and creation of new national boundaries make it impossible for starving peoples to migrate from their devastated fields, as they did during past famines.
Climatologists are pessimistic that political leaders will take any positive action to compensate for the climatic change, or even to allay its effects. They concede that some of the more spectacular solutions proposed, such as melting the Arctic ice cap by covering it with black soot or diverting arctic rivers, might create problems far greater than those they solve. But the scientists see few signs that government leaders anywhere are even prepared to take the simple measures of stockpiling food or of introducing the variables of climatic uncertainty into economic projections of future food supplies. The longer the planners delay, the more difficult will they find it to cope with climatic change once the results become grim reality.
It’s quite the thunderstorm slash tropical storm here where I live, but besides that little detail. I was wondering what are some good animes to watch? That are sort of like Sailor Moon or Card Captor Sakura? And not neccessairly the magic/power aspect of it, though that is good but school life, comedy, romance, drama, slice of life kind of thing? Hmm? So what can I watch?
P.S. Does anyone know where I can find Wallflower the manga again online? I seriously cannot find it anywhere. I am slightly depressed. It has another name but I don’t know it, so give me some help and suggestions.
P.S.S. And welcome all you bastards who have a stupid ass comment to leave I have no problem reading and laughing at your immaturity. Honestly.
P.S.S.S. lol..I had to write the three s. Thanks you guys.
I’ve watched um..well I can’t remember unless someone gives me a list but I’ve watched:

On the evening of 14th September 2009 typhoon Koppu passed to the south of Hong Kong bringing extreme winds and pounding storm surge. Fellow storm chaser Andrew Glanville and I recorded a wind gust of 98mph and filmed winds well in excess of 100mph.

with no selter? I know an individual who keeps her pit bull terrier outside with no shelter in stormy weather or in the record heat of the day! The kennel is approximately 4′x2.5′. Is this legal?
How do scientists track movements of hurricanes and predict the movements?!?
These townhomes/condos provide washer, dryer, refrigerator, stove…and for the most part these appliances are brand new. These Townhomes/units are built with concrete blocks for the safety of hurricanes. What are some things to consider when before making the decision to rent out a townhome or a condo? Any Advice?
For the most part these townhomes/condos are fairly new..one being built in 2004/2005, and the other was just finished being built in 2006
How long did it take to get your hurricane shutters installed from the time of contract signing? Was the work satisfactory? Did you have to be persistent to move the project along?
i cant find this anywhere..and i need to know!
please and thanks!!!

Hurricane Katrina relief
In September 2005 Mexican army convoys traveled to the U.S. to help in the Hurricane Katrina relief effort.
Mexican army convoys and a navy ship laden with food, supplies and specialists traveled to the United States including military specialists, doctors, nurses and engineers carrying water treatment plants, mobile kitchens, food and blankets.
The convoy represents the first Mexican military unit to operate on U.S. soil since 1846, when Mexican troops briefly marched into Texas, which had separated from Mexico and joined the United States. There were complaints from Mexican senators because President Vicente Fox did not ask for congressional permission to send troops overseas, as required by law, but the complaints were dismissed because it was a humanitarian mission and no armed forces were involved, but only unarmed military personnel (medical, engineers, etc.).

The tornado occurred after midnight, so obviously no daylit photos are available. Were any lightning-illuminated photos taken of the F5 beast however? I have found plenty of damage photos, however no pictures of the funnel itself. Thanks.
I’ve looked into the state & federal programs-there’s nothing I qualify for
or that is available.
Looking for someone who can donate time to do or help do repairs.
Even someone who has knowledge of how things should be done, would be helpful.
(Most of repairs not incredibly difficult, but do require someone who has done this
stuff before)
I need some stucco repaired, drywall in one room, some damaged wood replaced,
some holes dug for replacement fence posts and some assistance repairing the fence.
Also need to replace some window cranks for according windows.
And need some plywood cut to cover windows in case of future hurricane.
(I have plywood-I’m just not able to cut it)
I could probably pay something, but not allot.
I have misc items that could be used for trade: golf clubs & bag ,
bowling balls, several clothes dryers that need minor repairs, misc garage stuff.
IN MIAMI - NEAR NE 163RD STREET MALL
what is that college in texas that performs the tests…they shoot the two by fours at a brick wall to simulate the actual force during tornados and hurricanes….or is there another college that does this?
back and forth to Beaumont from Houston, TX, durring Hurricane Rita….they recruited me, but I forgot the company, I was able to work for them at the time

Jasper-Style Lynching! Reporting on the Grounds in Paris, Texas
Reposted from: Brother Jesse Blog
Written by Jesse Muhammad
On Saturday, October 4, I received a serious phone call from Krystal Muhammad of the New Black Panther Party (NBPP) in regards to a possible dragging death in Paris, Texas which is located about five hours north of Houston. The first thing that immediately came to my mind was that 2008 is the tenth anniversary of the lynching of James Byrd, Jr. in Jasper, Texas. Liken unto that case, the victim in Paris was said to be a 24-year-old Black man and his killers were two White men.
I immediately Googled the town and saw that there were only a handful of media outlets that had covered the story which involved Brandon McClelland and these two White males. One reason possibly that there was hardly any coverage was that this killing took place on September 16, which was the tail end of Hurricane Ike hitting landfall so I am sure the town officials were hoping this would be swept under the rug. Too bad, because the Final Call is on top of it!
Sister Kyrtle told me that members of the NBPP Dallas Chapter were on the grounds already to meet with the family. So myself, Sis Krystle and my older brother Deric Muhammad hit the road on Sunday, October 5 to do some on the grounds work to see what really happened.
After a five hour drive, we arrived in the ‘hood of Paris. We then caravaned over to the home of the McClelland family where Brandon’s mother sat on the porch with tears in her eyes. Ms. Jacqueline McClelland and her family gave recorded statements to me for my Final Call story as well as the NBPP for an independent investigation. We were also joined by local activists, a head of the State NAACP chapter and other friends of the family.
After hearing their accounts, it was verified that her son was dragged on the back of a pickup truck by these two White males and his body was dismembered. Jasper all over again. Afterwards we drove over to the grave site.
We then went to the scene of the crime in Lamar County. You would not believe that parts of that Brandon McClelland’s skull was still out there on the ground! Shows how much the police cared. It was like an episode of CSI:NY with blood tracks up and down the road and tire marks chased by the blood trails. This was one of the most painful stories I have had to cover in person.
They tied my son to that truck and drugged him until his body parts were detached", said his mother Jacqueline McClelland to the Final Call. "His body was so destroyed that it could not even be embalmed by the funeral home. This is a hate crime. I don’t want the death penalty for these killers because that would be too quick. I want them to suffer for life in jail without parole since I will never have my son back."
Read my entire story in next week’s edition of the Final Call Newspaper.

It doesn’t make a difference if they knew him or not.
http://dallassouthblog.com/2008/10/04/howard-wittchicago-tribune-with-more-on-death-of-brandon-mcclelland/
No, Byrd didn’t know all of the guys that killed him, but he did know 1 of them and had also had a few drinks with the men that killed him too.
The only difference is the distance that he was dragged and the fact that Byrd was tied behind the truck, McClelland wasn’t.
We have 20 employees and all utilize a database. Corporate data needs to be safe, easily replicated. We are in the Hurricane belt.
I would really like to get married in Florida. It would be late June or early-mid July. How much should I worry about hurricane season??
Would a honeymoon cruise be a bad idea during this time as well?
Thanks
