Without alarming them or having them think your crazy. A hurricane last year where the South ran out of gas woke me up to this, and how it could happen with food, other things, and how fragile society is?

Imagine you are standing at a field looking south. This wind is blowing strongly at your back (so towards the south). Give this, what direction would the pressure gradient be pointing? Would you guess the cyclone is moving towards you or away from you, given what we’ve see from the general movement of weather at our latitude?

Okay so its summer break for school and i noticed im gaining a little weight not a lot so i want to take it away so what are some good exercises to do when im just watching tv or just bored. And i cant walk around outside because there is a tropical storm going on right now….. please help:) all answers are appreciated

I was just wondering what things do you have to do and what supplies do you need to prepare for a tornade? Also, what room do you go to during a hurricane?

Home is where the heart is

There have been many changes in my life
New career, new friends, new life
But my home has always been there

Home is where memories are created
Memories of the Bianco family have been generated
In our home since 1956
My father’s confirmation party in the backyard
My communion party in the living room
My brothers first step in the TV room
My brother fell through the ceiling from the attic to my bedroom
My aunt drove the car through the garage door
My sister snuck out her second floor bedroom window
My brother threw a measuring cup at my head in the kitchen

Memories can be as happy as one jumping on the trampoline in the backyard
To as sad as Aunt Reny having a heart attack in the den

Home is about love and laughter
Home is where you spend time with family
To create bonds and friendships

My house is in Jersey but my home is wherever I choose to be
A house is a form of shelter that protects you from the weather
Home is where you can be yourself without worry
Home is where love grows and you change

My heart may be in New York but my home is in New Jersey.

Are you worried about IKE? What have you done to get ready? Aren’t you tired of being told to "hunker down"? We’re putting up the shutters tomorrow and still have most everything else (batteries, water, food) from the "Fay" scare. What have you done?
Crow where’s Lake County? I’m in the Treasure Coast.
Southern - my mother-in-law (who I love) is in Louisiana (Washington parish) I know how you feel!

My friend and I would like to vacation there but I am concerned about the weather around that time. Is that hurricane season and what will the temperature be like? Also what is the best hotel to stay at in the French Quarters that is 3 or 4 stars?

Sept 1989 - Myrtle Beach / Hurricane HUGO Aftermath Footage *RARE* The late Carroll Campbell Jr, who was the SC governer at the time, narrates as he rides in a UH60 Blackhawk helicopter flying north along the coast.

"Tropical cyclone (TC) activity worldwide has completely and utterly collapsed during the past 2 to 3 years with TC energy levels sinking to levels not seen since the late 1970s."

In 2005 we were told by the "experts" that Hurricane Katrina was a product of "Global Warming", that we should expect a greater number and greater strength of hurricanes in the future. The climate models backed up the claims of the scientists, and these statements were widely reported as facts about man’s effects on the climate.

Now the long term study is out that did study the number and strength of tropical storms and the facts are that both the number and intensity have decreased over the years since Katrina.

How did these climate models miss something as easy as this, and how were the top "Global Warming Experts" fooled by the data?

If something as simple as the number and strength of the storms are wrong, than can we accept that there is more data that is wrong that we don’t know about yet?

Should the data from "Global Warming" institutes be reviewed to separate what is opinion, emotion, political from true objective science?

My family and I want to donate supplies to help people affected by Hurricane Ida and all the sites I have seen so far are to donate money. Help please!

I was very annoyed with our news channels. Everything is always the "Metro Area", when there is also life beyond. Anyway…..

I have 2 horses, both have full-winter coats. We live in the SE area of MN. They have a run-in shelter. The gelding gets very spooky when the wind really blows and so won’t use the shelter. I think he feels that he has to see everything he hears. The mare isn’t nearly as spooky as he is and will usually use the shelter. Anyway, the weather forecast said that our windchills were going to go "well below zero". I didn’t realize exactly what this meant. My gelding was very cold this morning and I had the mare separated due to a leg injury. My daughter and I put on their wind/rain sheets that are also rated as mid-weight.

My issue is….at what temperature and windchill does a horse with a full winter coat need more protection than what I have explained here? I’m abit annoyed with our newscasters because it seems they could have done a more complete job of weather warnings and affects for our horses.

Thank you for any additional knowledge.

Where is it going?
Ilive in South florida (Broward)
is it going to hit me ??
What catagory?
should i put shutters?

I got this picture from a Backgrounds App on my iPod, and i don’t know if it is real

It looks like a space shuttle launch, or maybe a weird tornado?
So can anyone tell me if it is real or fake?

Australia. If the winds starting turning from the ne to the nw what weather conditions are likely and what readings would you expect if a summertime cyclone was heading this way ( to northern nsw)

You’ve considered two different economic shocks resulting from Katrina:

1) An aggregate supply shock: Katrina increased energy prices and temporarily reduced U.S. productive capacity.
2) An aggregate demand shock: Government responded to the hurricane with massive expenditures on aid and rebuilding.

What does the aggregate supply and aggregate demand model predict about the combined impact of these shocks on the U.S. economy?

A. Real GDP may rise or fall, but the price level will definitely rise.

B. Real GDP will definitely fall, but the price level will definitely rise.

C. Real GDP may rise or fall, but the price level will definitely fall.

D. Real GDP will definitely rise, but the price level may rise or fall.

I think it’s A, because only the price level changes in the long run, correct?

I am supposed to go to Clearwater Beach, Fl but with the hurricane coming in it got cancelled. I was thinking about going to California. I want to do some kayaking and snorkeling. Are there any places like this in Cali?

Hurricane strength has long been understood to correlate quite tightly with SST:
http://www.gfdl.noaa.gov/~tk/glob_warm_hurr/Fig_PDI_SST.html

Recently someone used this data to conclude that global warming has no effect on increasing hurricane strength/number:
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/pastdec.shtml

The data is specifically for the number of US hurricane strikes.

But it seems obvious that, while this specific variable may not be increasing, the total number of hurricanes is:
http://www.gfdl.noaa.gov/~tk/glob_warm_hurr/Fig_Hurr_major_USland_count.html

Tastiness of cherries aside, is there any good reason to focus only on "number of hurricanes which strike the US" and not on an increase in hurricane strength/frequency as a whole?
By the way, for the first graph:

"PDI is a combined measure of Atlantic hurricane frequency, intensity, and duration."
