Both Northern Hemisphere and South Hemisphere AND therefore overall Global hurricane activity has continued to sink to levels not seen since the 1970s. I live in Minnesota and I can’t imagine anybody without shelter surviving a 2 week stretch of 20 below weather, but they do and it baffles me. Homeless shelters can only take in so many people per night, so what do the unlucky ones do?

Anyway, what I want to know is here on the MWMALI (Mean Wet Minimalist Apathetic Little Island) or UK we finally got round to making the Thames Barrier, which as it happens is just about out of date now, but we did actually build the bloody thing & it’s supposed to prevent countless lives being lost & an estimated £50 billion worth of damage being caused by a similar storm surge like depicted
in this drama and subsequent documentary. But why haven’t the Americans with all their money & power yet built something similar if not a lot larger and better round manhattan Island? Admittedly a 200 foot wall of water is a bit of a tough one to crack - but there is always that ‘lateral thought’ business which is what this storm modification is all about - fighting nature with nature - albeit modified nature.

is a Hurricane, tropical cyclone a weather pattern

I’m almost 17 and I really love storms and I hope to be a storm chaser when I get older. But is there anything wrong with chasing them now? I know all about tornado safety–I’ve lived smack dab in the middle of tornado alley my entire life and have studied storms and tornadoes quite intensly.

Would it be stupid (as far as safety goes) to chase storms at my age? I’m also very into photography which would be one of the main reasons I would go chasing (to get photos). What do you think?

I have heard many different opinions on having doggies outside. Is it ok ( granted weather, shelter, environment of course). Do they grow up to be ok?
My doggie is an Australian shepherd lab mix, and we live in mild texas weather. She prefers to be outside and gets kind of frustrated inside. With all the opinions, i dont know what to do. She has training and play time everyday .

I have a few questions, I live in the upper-west section of Houston, TX (Harris County for those familar with the area) & Hurricane Ike is expected to make landfall within the next few days, & I have a few questions.
