Standing outside his restaurant in the city’s Faubourg Marigny district, Dale DeBruyne prepared for Gustav the way he did for Katrina — stubbornly.

"I’m not leaving," he said.

DeBruyne, 52, said his house was stocked with storm supplies, including generators.

"I stayed for Katrina," he said, "and I’ll stay again."

"This is the real deal, not a test," Nagin said as he issued the order, warning residents that staying would be "one of the biggest mistakes of your life." He emphasized that the city will not offer emergency services to anyone who chooses to stay behind.
Predictions are for a cat 5 hurricane. Cat 4 or 5. Doesn’t matter. Katrina should have been a wake up call for anybody living in the NO area. If people decide to stay, they’re gambling with their lives.
While stationed on the Island of Guam I had no other choice but to stay on island through the typhoons that struck. I remember Super Typhoon Paka very well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typhoon_Paka
I guess he’s gotta do what he’s gotta do. He’s obviously a gambling man because he loves playing Russian Roulette. :(

this is my current resume’. i was wondering, do anybody have any suggestions on how i can make it more appealing. thanks.

This would be a permanent structure for housing 5 mature, full-size (think Boer, LaMancha, etc.) goats within fenced grazing areas, not necessarily near an actual barn.

Mini-barns, pre-fab, and lean-to styles don’t count.

Must be cost-effective, durable, and protect during seasonal weather extremes (Fahrenheit temps from teens to high 90’s).

Ability for minimum-hassle seasonal conversions is a huge plus. Show us your ag design-fu. Got pics? If they’re your own original designs, please feel free to share links to your publicly hosted images (please make sure you’ve secured your copyrights to any such images first, thanks!).
This is a legitimate question I was requested to ask on behalf of a neighbor who does not have internet access. The first B.S. response was merely down-voted. The second was reported by me as it was completely out of line. Other people who are seriously interested in Y!A’s "Agriculture" category are encouraged to help maintain some sort of minimum acceptable standards within this community. Thank you.
Shellybell - That sounds soooo cool!

P.S. To the Omnipotents of Y!A: Please accept my humble thanks for deleting response #2. ;oD
Thanks, circarocker06, but I can crank out designs in my sleep. What my neighbor’s looking for is adequately outlined in the original query. Now the focus is more on what’s innovative and practical vs. standard and predictable.

I was intrigued and worried what had happened overnight in north Queensland’s cyclone so I was looking through statistics and reading news reports to find that it had been severe. My regards to anyone who was in it, but at Hamilton Island I found this very very odd temperature reading which just after the height of the cyclone the temperature reached 43 degrees C at 3:45 in the morning! http://www.weatherzone.com.au/station.jsp?lt=site&lc=33106&list=ob
Its previous record was 33 degrees and that was during the day and this was at night! http://www.weatherzone.com.au/station.jsp?lt=site&lc=33106&list=ds
Somebody suggested that this was a misreading but the temperature gauge continued to read into the high thirties right up to one in the afternoon today where it mysteriously cut out (which supports the theory that it was a misreading) Nowhere else around it did it rise above 30C which to me seems odd though temperatures can vary greatly over small distances. If it wasn’t a misreading what weather phenomena caused it? A heat burst? The wind was from a warm direction and when you take into account that it gusted up to 202-5km/h it could have been heat burst. Please answer i find this very weird.

Here I sit on a Saturday night because everyone is so dang flipped out about the hurricane. All my friends are running around boarding up their windows or packing their trucks getting ready to run like chickens so I’m sitting here alone. Should I stay in my trailer and have a big hurricane party or should I be a wuss and head for the hills? Heck, the dang thing won’t even BE here for another four days!

With the long history of public protest to draw upon, why does the current administration think that people would riot to protest the shortage of flu supplies? Can you imagine a hundred flu-sufferers trying to stage a protest? They would shuffle along, in a haze, coughing and wheezing. Surely this is a serious threat! Im glad W. is so well in touch with the pulse of America that he sniffed out this potential danger. Or is this their way of admitting that we wont be prepared? The man ignored a category 5 hurricane heading towards a major US port.

I was reading a blog earlier today, and I saw a quote from a book the blogger called LFW. I know I may never find out the book’s true name, but here’s the quote in case someone recognizes it:

I wanted so badly to lie down next to her on the couch, to wrap my arms around her and sleep. Not fuck, like in those movies. Not even have sex. Just sleep together, in the most innocent sense of the phrase. But I lacked the courage and she had a boyfriend and I was gawky and she was gorgeous and I was hopelessly boring and she was endlessly fascinating. So I walked back to my room and collapsed on the bottom bunk, thinking that if people were rain, I was drizzle and she was hurricane.
(LFA Pg. 88)
I meant LFA, not LFW.

Just a simple typo.

Has the hurricane season extended due to global warming, or has the hurricane season been the same time period forever?

I’ve updated the PIC chart by zooming in on recent developments. This will also help in family planning. All data is still input into the forecast trends. Notice the near flat-lining of boinking despite cloaked pregnancies over the past few days! Could this be the calm before the storm of Prom Night pregnancies?? I suppose we shall know in a few days as I continue to track these incredible developments in boinking trends. The Current Boink Rate (CBR) has dropped 33% from the Average Boink Rate (ABR). Imagine the drop if it were not for cloaked pregnancies! Criminy!!

The highest coefficient of determination still resides with the quadratic forecast model, but it has been pushed out a day and the trend is now directed towards the path of the linear forecast model!

The 1M mark is extrapolated to just after midnight 6-1-09 UTC at the international dateline. Plan your pregnancies accordingly. However, continue to check back with my reports. This is much like hurricane tracking and big surprises can happen between now and the actual 1M timestamp. I have included 1% error bars on the data points. My profile will always have the most recent PIC chart. Bookmark it.
I am putting a date stamp on this question: 5-20-09

Hey everyone,

I am going to Bamajam for the first time this year and was wondering if people recommended camping there or getting a hotel? I sort of want to camp for the social scene aspect of it, but would love to have the convenience of showers, a fridge, and shelter from inclement weather in a hotel

Suggestions?

Bush being warned about Katrina
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,186525,00.html

Im walking amongst the dead
On a dreary night, with frost bite
Every breath is a cloud of icy steam
We are marching, floating in a haze

The people, their faces are gory
Skulls, with visible deep sockets
Wrapped around my hands are burning chains
We are trapped together

Where are we going?
I do not know
The most I feel from this is the excitement one gets from fear
Otherwise I am empty

What am I doing?
I am amongst evil
I sin and I cannot redeem
I donot believe this path will take me anywhere

If a butterfly passed,
Cloaked with snowy white wings and angelic
It would be my last glimmer of hope
And I believe the last

But here, I know I don’t belong
I still have a face I believe
In these misty woods, on the path of death
But I have a heart to match theirs

They hiss and spit
The shape we make, walking upon air
Is that of a snakes’
If you watch from a distance

You could try and join us, some do
Others catch sight of our mysterious ways
It appeals to some, you see
But keeping up with us is like holding on to a tear drop
Sadness created this, this insanity

Hold my hand, please I beg you
Take me away from the devils of deceased hope
But can I beg?
Or merely choke?
Your attention was like a warm rush of flooding water
A tropical storm causing the chains to slide
A message in the form of bellowing thunder
Lighting, erratically showing images of love by our sides

Footage of Hurricane Gustav at landfall from ground zero in Houma, Louisiana from tornadovideos.net. Footage includes wind gusts to 100 mph, telephone poles breaking, and major tree damage.

May 26, 2008 www.youtube.com Video surveillance footage from First State Bank during the tornado in Parkersburg. Watch the video as the EF-5 tornado crashes into the First State Bank in Parkersburg. The bank was empty, but the surveillance cameras rolled on the disaster. On May 25th, severe weather caused at least six tornadoes in eastern Iowa. The most damaging one wiped out hundreds of homes in Parkersburg, Hazleton, Dunkerton, and New Hartford. Seven people died. It was the strongest tornado to hit Iowa in more than 30 years.

This was taken about a quarter mile away from Dixie dr. Were there was major damage. In the first 15 to 20 seconds you can see the tornado good, then it goes behind the trees.

And if so, then with what type of data? If not, then why not?

How do I get an email when a TORNADO SIREN goes off in IL?
I want to know when there is a tornado nearby. I would also like to get a photo of a tornado. Is there a service any place that will send me an email when there is a tornado in the area?

These reporters are telling people to evacuate and board up their windows because of dangerous weather. Here the Idiots are standing on a fourth floor balcony on a slippery deck with wind blowing the so hard that they cannot stand up. Do they think we look at them as Brave reporters? Possibly stupid showoffs.
