I was at home today , when it felt as if an earthquake had hit. My entire apartment shook for about half a second and you could hear a loud exploding sound. Soon, I had found out that my downstairs neighbor’s windows had exploded along with the AC! Her house looked like an hurricane hit it! Outside there was her kitchen and living room window on the floor, not to mention the AC. Firefighters came and said it was because she had plugged it in to much outlits - but wouldnt that cause an blackout in her house?

I am an adult that came here from Wisconsin 5 years ago. I try to explain that it is much worse than a blizzard or anything like that. And then i get questions like, "Don’t you just want to go stand out in the hurricane and watch it?" Haha. I’m like, "It’s NOT a tornado." There’s no spectacle. Just extremely high dangerous life threatening winds with debris and heavy objects falling all around you. And flooding. Terrible flooding. New Orleans type flooding sometimes. Live power lines down. And the hardest part I have is describing how long it messes up the community. It can put everything on hold for weeks and maybe months. I get the craziest questions about hurricanes. And when folks say, "Man I wouldn’t live in Florida because of the hurricanes," then I say, "You can prepare for a hurricane. But you can’t really prepare for gut wrenching super low Florida wages." And that’s when I think of that stupid Wal-Mart smiley face.

Our complex suffered a devastating amount of damage during Hurricane Katrina. The managers will not board all of the windows in the complex. How do I protect my bedroom window from the storm. Tape isn’t any good really when the winds are strong.

Any advice?

Also, yes, I know about evactuation, preparedness kits, etc. etc. I’ve lived on the coast all of my life and have dealt with many a storm…but always in a regular home and never in an apartment.

it isn’t the complex job to protect my personal belongings, it is mine. the fact is they will not board up or shutter windows, they never have. what is inside my apartment is still my responsibility and i any damages from wind/rain isn’t covered on my insurance. the complex will not pay either. so i am taking the preparations necessary to protect my property on my own.

i have 1 laptop and 1 notebook. i’m using wireless connection with Prolink Wireless-G ADSL2+Modem router - Hurricane 5301G.

I have problem with wifi connection in my HP mini 210-1014TU last month my HP was error so i reset(reinstall default settings) my HP after reset my HP, everything is working properly but i can’t connect to my own wifi in my house(at school,etc i can connect with their wireless).

But My another laptop (Acer 4920) can connect with my house wifi it’s automatically connect when i insert the passkey.
when i’m trying connect my HP in My wifi connection it appeared "Windows was unable to find a certificate to log you on the network athena(its my wifi connection names)". When i open wireless network connection window there is appeared "Validating Identity" in athena connection.
I had uncheck Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network. I confused what i must choose in Network Authentication (There are Open,Shared,WPA,WPA-PSK), and in Data encrytion. My Wifi using passkey. I had already try insert the passkey in my HP but didnt work =(
