Please understand, I am in no way an alarmist nor raise my voice to steer anyone in the incorrect direction, but I see something that has recently occurred that has me really concern in the short and long term sense.
The most recent oil rig disaster in the Gulf off the American coast seems to be looked upon in a blasé fashion. What I mean is doesn’t you the citizens of the world know what the true short and long term ramifications of what is occurring, what is going to happen because of the incompetence of one of the worlds biggest greed mongers.
People who have gone out to help with the clean up, the fishermen, shrimpers, and Joe American found themselves becoming extremely sick, that they were told that they needed to wear hazmat suits while doing the clean up of bacteria ridden oil that has been trapped in the earth for millions of years.
Don’t you realize that within 9 to 14 months this oil spill, I mean the continuous oil flood will have circumnavigated the earth in some form or the other carrying God only knows what new diseases that have been trapped for millions of years, propagating, multiplying and morphing in the stew pot of protein the oceans has to offer as one giant Petri dish; bacteria that very well could have been the very device that could have wiped out the dinosaurs. Bacteria that could be easily be spread much quicker inland by just one hurricane and across the globe, and you have BP who seems not to know their [jack] a-ss from a hole in the ground, is in solo control of this mess?????
You may think, we pump oil out of the ground all over the earth and nothing has happened yet; yes this is true but the difference is that the oil is in a closed system, and is kept under wraps all through its processes of breaking it down [cracking] into the products we all use. People get sick when exposed to crude oil really sick and cases of cancer in the short term have been documented from the date of contact.
We b itch and complain and point our fingers at the government for its lack of action while BP hides behind policies that have been put in place by those who protect big business rather it be Democrat or Republican, when we all throughout this planet need to stand up and I mean stand up now and protest in masses about this whole mess. Brother and Sisters put aside your indifferences and make your voice heard. To quote an old line in a movie, we damn mad and we ain’t going to take it anymore. Pick up the phone; go on line, walk, drive or bike to the local political parties or officials and voice you anger. Boycott BP; don’t buy gasoline or any other product from them, send them a clear and undisputable that we as the human race will not supply your coffers with the fodder your greedy corporation feeds upon until this mess is 100% taken care of , then watch how fast it gets fixed.
Heck, take a few of those fat cat BP executives and shoot them into the well head that should quickly plug it up.

The birds in my town have been making the strangest noise I ever heard birds make. If birds had their own language, I’m sure this would be their way of warning other birds about something. Are the birds warning about impending bad weather, or even a natural disaster? Because I’ve heard animals can sense when bad weather is coming and take shelter and warn others of their kind about it. I’ve noticed Gulf water temps are cooler now than they usually are this time of year. Will this have any affect the upcoming hurricane season? Particularly with intensity.

nuclear submarines are used every day and keep or sailors safely summered under water for as much as 6 moths at a time,so i was thinking to make some safe storm shelters on land and at sea,under the ocean during a hurricanes they ,could presumably be under the ocean,or on ones land they have to be built with i call sub standards,not meaning below grade or does it? yes know there and idea below grade !! ok i made like a single wide mobile home that was water tight with like a submarine hatch for an entrance,the ventilation shafts were cold rolled steal of different dimensions pressed into each other like inner and the outer dimensions matching perfectly being pressed into one another un till i made a shaft that could with stand any hurricane storm floating trash colliding in to them,like a car hitting a tree the tree wins every time a car crashes into them right. well this was one of the biggest obstacles to over come in the under ground summered hurricane storm shelter.then as a finished product the ventilation shafts were disguised as palm trees ,preferably untrimmed with the dry ed up looking palm leaves. this is where there was fuel tanks one 1 shaft and on the other of witch there were 2 was a water storage tank for a emergency fire sprinkler system. the sprinkler heads are in the mechanical room where the generator hvac systems are and in the kitchen over the cook top . it is a steal shoe box basically with floor plans like a single wide mobile home,steal stud frame work with sheet rock walls 1/2 inch and ceiling all ceramic or clay tile on the floors twin murphy beds entertainment centers computer desk,and full kitchen and bath,with storage room off the small mechanical room that had plenty of shelves and Freezer for food storage, the sheet rock in the mechanical rooms were 5/8 inch walls and ceiling times 2 doubled up making a 2 hour fire wall also a fire door and emergency smoke evacuation vents.the vents went way down into the ground like a male and female pips fitting into a flag pole these were set in cement .in fact the whole shelter was set in like a cement tomb then back filled with rocks for drainage and to inhibit rust from penetrating the water proofing layers on the out side of the shelter,it was like a in law apartment under ground ,good party room after the bars close no one could hear you under ground turn up the music and enjoy,had full security cameras,as to watch the storm as it passes over head.and a emergency response team after the storm in case the entrance ever gets covered from the storms after mass.there’s more but that is what i wanted to do. think it can be done ,is it possible.what do you think.

My house has two doors facing east that has no windows (use to be a portable school building).I have thick oak trees and brush on the long side but is open on the ends.It sits on blocks and i was wanting to know if i should berm around the house to keep wind from blowing under the house? Also my john deere tractor needs wheel bearings.Do i have to buy bearings from a tractor place or can i go to a regular auto parts store.The tractor is small ,smaller than a full size car.On the house i have closed off my eaves cause i had mold growing inside and we have high humidity and i figured it be best to keep the humid air out cause i read you should seal your house like an envelope.

There is this stray cat that has been wondering out, outside for the past few months. He is homeless, and all the time outside in this cold weather. He is now starting to come by me, and everytime he does, I really feel bad for the cat and want to take him in. But I already have 2 big dogs and a female cat who is by the way fixed.

What should I do? Should I maybe take him in and maybe take him up to the vet and if he is chipped they can tell me whether or not he has or had owners? Or should I just ignore the cat and leave him be? What would you do in this situation? I really feel bad for him having to be out in this very cold weather with no where to go for shelter or to be warm? Please help me? What should I do?
To be honest with all of you, I do want to take him in, but I dont want my other animals that I have to spook or scare him off. The cat is a male cat. I know that he is homeless because he is always outside and doesnt even have a collar. I feel so bad for the kitty. I also work 5 days a week from 8 am to 5 pm. So I dont know when I would be able to take him to a vet. And I live on a military base, and the vet clinic that is on the base is not open on the weekends. Should I just take him in and take him to the vet as soon as I can?

Enough is enough, if NIMBYs won’t like the aesthetics of oil rigs, offshore tidal marine or wind turbines, why don’t they pay the difference in energy costs to everyone else caused by this shortage? Higher energy costs will cause inflation and tank our economy, that’s more important than ruining someone’s view from their beach house? Give your elected officials what for on this. Nuke doesn’t have to be the answer. This is the same fiasco Carter got us into, crying shortage yet stopping any new projects for enviromental reasons. It is a VITAL neccesity for national security and prosperity to tap into and refine federal reserves, if only to supply government stockpiles and uses of oil, it would free up that much more for public consumption. That means drill offshore or in the artic, and build more refineries in different locations instead of where they all get shut down by one hurricane, accident or terrorist attack.
During WW2 we built the CANOL line from Norman Wells in the Northwest Territories through "impassable" terrain, even though the 12" line could only pump in cold weather, and was abandonned a few years later, it was still an engineering feat accomplished because it was seen as vital for survival of the USA. We need to get our heads out of our butts and realize our survival depends on not being held hostage by Middle East oil supplies. Even if it takes a few years, just breaking ground takes pressure off oil futures, which is where the price consumers pay is set. Someone was shot for cutting in line at a gas staion in China the other day, where only one in 73 households have cars, and it’s only going to get worse.
