In our community, we have a lovely stray cat. Knowing that winter was coming and that the weather was turning cold, my husband and I attempted to catch the animal to bring it to animal control so that it could be pciked up by the SPCA. As luck would have it, things did not go as planned. Instead, my husband had to go to the hospital to get antibiotics after being bitten and since rabis is something that is currently running rampant here, the doctor contacted animal control, as did we. After animal control came, we were informed that because the cat had bitten someone, it could not be adopted (except by us) and in 10 days, it would be put down. My husband and I acted quickly by contacting animal control and informing them that we would adopt the sweet cat. We saved her from the grim reaper and then took her to the vet to get her checked out as a precaution. She was given a clean bill of health, but we are unable to keep her since we already have a cat. What should we do now?

Turn into a hurricane and hit us hard. I hope not, but just in case I’m going out for supplies today. Later on in the week will be hectic.

The windows are in need of upgrading to come up to codes for hurricane winds. The window dealer told me that I am not able to recieve the tax rebate of ,500. If I install new windows what can I write off? Thanks

TornadoVideos.net storm chasers Reed Timmer and Joel Taylor traveled to Jamaica on Saturday, August 18, 2007 with the goal of intercepting the eye of Hurricane Dean, a powerful category 4-5 storm! This footage features TornadoVideos.net storm chasers documenting hurricane-force winds and massive waves from the north shore of Jamaica. Since the hurricane wobbled south less than 18 hours before landfall, the brunt of Dean remained just off-shore. Check out TornadoVideos.net for insane tornado footage, breaking news blog, and our live GPS tracker!

free-gift-card.us — Here is a video of Canada’s first F5 Tornado (upgraded from F4) taken from one mile away that devastated the western part of Elie, Manitoba on Friday June 22nd, 2007…the video ends with a second tornado (F3 Rated) near Oakville. This one was on the ground at the same time as the Elie tornado, but I didn’t catch it until the Elie one lifted and I was driving towards Elie to see what happened there…I turned around and tried to intercept it, but it got rain-wrapped and fell apart after about 10 minutes. Ok so I live in Louisville KY and we have always had severe weather but I have NEVER been in a tornado. I live in the Ohio Valley so Tornados aren’t too common and I have never really been worried. But now that I have a child I am for some reason terrified of the thought of a tornado! We’re suppose to be having serious storms tonight that could produce tornados and my question is, is my basement that I have to walk outside to get into, safe? It’s underneath the house but I have to walk out the back door to get into it. The door isn’t secure at all and can’t lock from the inside. It’s also un-finished and not big at all. Now my house is old and brick. The basement walls are 5 feet of concrete so I feel like thats a very good thing. My fear would be that the door could fly open and then we get ripped out of the basement or something! I don’t understand why I am so terrified. I guess because before I only had to worry about my own life but now I have a child I have to worry about as well!!! Any reassurance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I am trying to put up aluminun shutters and don’t know how far outside the window I have to be. Do I just cover the window? Or do I go a few inches further? Please help me. I have never done this before. How far are the headers supposed to be?

For about 2 months now my poo has been coming out kinda flat, like strips. It didnt gradually works its way to that it just all the sudden started to come out flat. I had a sigmoidosocopy about a year and a half ago and everything looked normal. I also had CT scans of my abdomen about a month ago and that also came back completely normal. I live in south florida and install hurricane proof windows and doors which are very heavy to lift. I was working on a job where i lifted a french door and all the sudden i got a sharp pain in my stomach but only last about 10 seconds and it felt normal again. Could I have a hernia? Would a hernia pushing against my colon cause this flat poo? Would a hernia be picked up on a CT scan? I have no pain in my stomach anymore but occasionally i get a very very mild discomfort on my right side above my waist. I have no blood in my stool, i go the same amount as i always have, its just different in shape. Just kinda stressing out cause its different then what things used to be and its just abnormal now, and when something is abnormal with me i just cant stop thinking about it. Anyone have any helpful information on what what may be causing this?

I know that it starts with Tropical Storm then Hurricane Watch i think, but u dont know the rest in order. Can anyone let me know please?

Storm chasers Andy Gabrielson and Dick McGowan encountered several weak tornadoes prior to the development of the large EF-3 tornado that tragically impacted the small town of Mapleton. They abandoned the chase for several hours to assist affected residents.

present an argument against the theory of manmade global warming.

It appears that many skeptics and deniers are quite convinced that their assertions are valid. This led me to wonder why they don’t validate their claims with links to sources or other citations.

So my question to skeptics is this – can you provide the evidence to back up the claims that are often used? Links to credible websites will be fine.

Given that skeptics like to be thought of as rational, objective and factual, then I expect there will be no problem at all in substantiating all of the following.

• The current warming is caused by natural cycles

• Global warming has ended and the Earth has been cooling for X number of years

• Scientists have admitted that they invented global warming, fabricated the evidence etc

• Global warming has not caused any change in the weather – droughts, floods, hurricanes etc

• Global warming is caused by the urban heat island effect, surface stations are incorrectly sited etc

• Scientists have deleted the raw data, the work of scientists can’t be verified

• It’s warmed faster in the past

• The number of glaciers is growing, glaciers are expanding etc

• Volcanoes emit more CO2 then humans do

• All the computer models in the past have been wrong

• The other planets are warming therefore it’s the Sun

Why do we listen to Lefties when they’re consistently wrong about everything?
Sage - except that Clinton’s late 1990s boom got a lot of help from the Fed, while the present surge in tax revenue continues long after the longest rate hike cycle in history - - - - you’re comparing apples to oranges. Clinton was swimming with the monetary tide, Bush is swimming against it, yet Bush is now swimming faster.
And the predictions in question were that 2006 and 2007 would be repeats of 2005 - - - hasn’t happened.

i am planning to go to North Port, Florida (around Tampa) during mid-august. I am concerned about hurricanes though. if the hurricane was to come to the right of florida, around the miami side, would tampa be safe? and is there even a major threat in mid august near tampa? thanks

In 2008 ABC 33/40 looked back at this historic Jefferson County F5 tornado. www.srh.noaa.gov

We just got a small 4mo old 6lb puppy from a shelter we think she is an italian greyhound… so very little to no fur.I made her a custom fit coat with sleeves and a martingale colar even, but no one has ever tried to house train. Obviously that was our first goal, and she does pretty ok during the day, but when the temp drops at night she freezes up and will not move more than to shiver and beg to be picked up. with or without the coat! I have tried sitting out there with her forever, taking her back repeatedly to the spot she goes at during the day… even tried puppy pads and locking her in the bathroom… the puppy pads are a joke, she moves them out of her way to go where they were, so how do I get her to go outside when it is cold?

I live near the ocean and my insurance company wants me to have "Pre-drilled" plywood for protection against hurricanes. has anyone done this before in CT?

ok…
You all know of the butterfly effect, right? No?
Well, it’s a theory that every little thing, including the beat of a butterfly’s wings, contributes to every weather pattern around the world, such as hurricanes and rainstorms.

Here’s my plan:

1: Gather the following: About 1 million Grow-Your-Own-Butterfly Kits, a cage large enough to hold said kits, a bomb shelter and a Large Box of Lollypops.

2: Raise the butterflies inside the gaint cage.

3: Once all the butterflies reach maturity, open up the cage and release all the butterflies.

4: Go inside bomb shelter as hurricanes all over the world destroy everything.

5: Arise from the shattered remains of the earth and proclaim myself as it’s new leader.

6: Find the starving, half-dead survivors of earth and tell them if they make me their leader I will give them a lifetime supply of Lollypops. Who could pass up those delicious taste of those yummy Lollypops?
Well that’s it!

What do u think ???

This is film taken in and around the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale area during and after the arrival of Hurricane Betsy which struck South Florida on September 8th 1965 as a cat.-3 storm. This raw footage was shot by TV Station WTVJ channel-4 in Miami.

Hispanic growth outpaced estimates
Hispanic population grew more dramatically than expected in states with smaller and newer immigrant populations, according to an analysis of Census data out today.
The 2010 Census counted almost 600,000 more Hispanics than the Census Bureau had estimated in the 33 states for which data have been released so far, according to the Pew Hispanic Center. Twenty-eight states had more Hispanics than expected.

CENSUS NUMBERS: Interactive map shows your state, county, locality
The Census count of 38.7 million Hispanics is 1.5% higher than the bureau’s estimates.

"Hispanics are in some places growing faster than we had thought," Pew demographer Jeffrey Passel says. "This sort of broad pattern suggests immigration into these new areas was a bit higher."

Number gap
The 2010 Census found 590,000 more Hispanics than the Census Bureau had estimated in 28 of the 33 states released so far. Most of them are states with smaller and newer immigrant populations.

The Census found 186,000 Hispanics in Alabama— 26,000 more than estimated. In North Carolina, Hispanics total 800,000, or 54,000 more than was estimated. Louisiana, where construction jobs soared after Hurricane Katrina, the Census counted 22,000 Hispanics — or 13.2% — more than estimated.

The underestimates show that immigrants continue to spread into the South and the Midwest from traditional gateways, such as California and New York.

"When they do these population estimates, they build on existing data," Passel says. "The data don’t always pick up on new trends."

In Arizona, the opposite happened: The Census counted almost 1.9 million Hispanics, 8.7% or 180,000 fewer than estimated.

Arizona passed tough immigration laws and beefed up enforcement against the undocumented, which pushed some out of state and discouraged others from responding to the government count. Arizona’s participation in the 2010 Census was 69%, below the national rate of 74%.

"The whole toxic environment against immigrants in Arizona probably contributed to the suppression of the count," says Arturo Vargas, of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials.

The recession was expected to encourage immigrants to return to their countries of origin, but it does not seem to have had a significant impact.

"It could be an indication that what we had thought was a falloff in immigration is not as severe," says Steven Camarota of the Center for Immigration Studies, which advocates immigration controls.

In 2000, the estimate of 274.5 million was about 7 million short of the Census count. Much of the gap was due to a low estimate of Hispanics — mostly illegal immigrants.

How do you take masking tape off of the outside of my windows? From hurricanes.
