Joe wants to see if it is true that hurricane induce labor in pregnant women. He collects data from several hospitals for births during the months of June-November (hurricane season). He compares this data with the dates that hurricanes came withing a 100 mile radius of his town. He graphs his results as the average number of births on hurricane days compared to the average number on non-hurricane days during the hurricane season months.

I honestly think that media is overhyping it, and the worst that will happen (Insh’allah) is that a tree will fall down, but Incase we are wrong, would Life Jackets be good idea? Gice me a Mock Supply list I should have in my bag…

And why are Candles discouraged during hurricanes, I know they are but why, my friends are stocked up on candles and flashlights….

Is it okay to keep breeds like Huskies, Norwegian Elkhounds etc. outside all year round? Also could you keep it indoors some of the time and outdoors some of the time?

Outdoors as in, in a secure area made just for the dog with a proper fence, water, toys, shelter from weather and stuff… what else would it need?

What kind of storm is this.. It looks like a tornado to me. But I found it under hurricane pictures. Doesnt look like a hurricane to me. What do yall think?

Thanks

Raw footage from a couple of hours at Wrightsville Beach awaiting Hurricane Irene’s arrival in New Hanover County.

I’m leaving to florida from NY on Wens, i know the hurricane is over on sunday, but what affects will this have on my flight if any?

What was the name of the first tropical storm of the 2011 Atlantic hurricane season?

During a hurricane keeps your windows open or closed?

My mom wants to leave the windows cracked a bit, she said it will help them to not break due to the wind but I read you should have them closed tight, also read if you have them close it can cause your roof to be blown off. Don’t tell me I have to have storm windows, shutters or boards because nobody really did that in jersey unless down the shore. So what should I do with the windows? Leave them cracked a bit or close them all?

in 24 hours hurricane irene will hit us and our threat level is extreme

I often see people walking down highways in bad weather and stuff. And i would love to help them, but most of the time i have my kids with me and i have to think of them. there are so many psychos out there. so it’s not a bad thing to not help right?

And if a homeless or some other person came to ask your help or needs where to stay for the night would you let him in or give him shelter?
I personally wouldn’t judge people for not trusting me in those time we live in. what is your oppinion?

On April 22 2010, Holy Tornado captured some insanely close tornado footage on the outskirts of Goodnight Texas. The night before we had been playing some pool with a guy named Russel. He became really interested once he had discovered what we were in town doing. He talked us into letting him ride along for the days price of fuel consumption. We then decided to turn it into a full severe weather tour by teaching him the whole nine yards of how a supercell worked.Russ got to witness everything first hand from the birth of our storm all the way through tornadogenesis and on to dissipation. Needless to say, we were all in for one huge adrenaline rush!!!!

I’ve often wondered about this. If I lived in the Gulf Coast region or the Outer Banks of NC, I think I would want to have a ready supply of plywood pre-cut, maybe have the holes already drilled, etc. so all that would be needed to do is install it and get out of town. Yet, everytime a hurricane approaches they talk about shortages of plywood. Is there a practical reason people don’t do this that I’m not aware of?

how is in your area
I live in South Brooklyn, zone C, it is apartment bldg top floor, it got leaked a lot.
will try to get landlord to fix the ceiling-mission impossible. But it is about it. The sky is clear.

WE got canned foods and stuff we re gonna buy some shutters , but do you think is better to evacuate ?
im on the upper level of maryland i live in baltimore but where i live is like a hill

I live on a barrier island in south florida which means I’ll have to evacuate no matter what. Where do I go? I need to know if central Florida is good enough, or if I have to go as far as Georgia or Alabama.

yes, i know it’s so debris does not hit your window and shatter it. but can wind from a hurricane blow your windows in? or cause them to break? i live in pennsylvania & hurricane irene is on it’s way up here. should be here around late afternoon saturday or during the day sunday. they’re ordering mandatory evacuation in all the shores, and they said new york is definitely in a lot of danger. they’re closing down the highways & subways saturday afternoon. if a hurricane is suppose to be this bad, should i board my own windows?

The wind drop off about 4 hours after the Hurricane had past, it went out only to find the wind had picked up again, you can see from the video the waves coming in from the North were at least 12ft, white caps for miles out to sea. I Did Not Record This Video!.

The hurricane is going to hit us today at 2
We still didnt go shopping. We did go yesterday but everything was sold out at every store.
So now my older brother went to the store to get all the things we need and he told me text him all the requirements.
Can you guys please tell us what we need so that we can be prepared?
Best answer gets 10 points c;

I know that the equator runs through a few continents, but what exactly *happens* when you enter the equator? Is the time-zones different? Weather different? Tax shelters different? (lol)

Also, what items should I gather in bulk? I reside in the state of Florida. Thank you in advance.
