I live in memphis, so most likely the weather here is gonna be pretty chilly. Any kind of advice of making a good home for it, what to feed Waffle (i’m naming it Waffle or Petey). I just want to have a happy healthy duckling. Any kind of help will be much appreciated.
THANKYOU!

Now that he’s promised not to smoke in the White House. Will there have to be a permanent shelter, built using taxpayers money, added to the White House lawn for him to smoke in, in-climate weather?

Have you seen the "Lincoln Bedroom"? It pales in comparison to the "Obama Smoking Shed!"

Synoptic charts display weather data that
A) was measured at the same place
B) was measured at the same time
C) shows multiple levels of the atmosphere on the same chart
D) was calculated by a mathematical model
E) was measured by a satellite

Middle-latitude cyclones
A) travel from east to west
B) are large high-pressure systems
C) have cold fronts but not warm fronts
D) rotate counterclockwise
E) a and b

The lifting of air and the resulting formation of clouds and rain is more gentle (gradual) for a
A) divergence zone
B) mesocyclone
C) occluded front
D) cold front
E) warm front

Which of these is common to both cold and warm fronts?
A) decreasing precipitation rates
B) lifting of warm air over cold

D) light to calm winds
E) steady barometer readings

After a cold front passes, which of these does not usually occur?
A) wind direction shift

D) clearing skies
E) falling barometer

The wind direction in a low pressure system is
A) from the east
B) from the south
C) from the northwest
D) from the north
E) dependent on your location relative to the storm center

The width or horizontal extent of a typical mid-latitude low pressure system would be
A) 20,000 km
B) 10,000 km
C) 500 - 1000 km
D) 5 - 10 km
E) 50 - 100 km

An ideal source region of air masses should be

C) physically uniform
D) roughly half land, half water
E) located at or near the equator

Why are cT air masses of minor importance for the U.S.?
A) prevailing winds steer them away
B) upper level subsidence limits their formation
C) no large source region is near the U.S.
D) mountains block their approach

This would be a permanent structure for housing 5 mature, full-size (think Boer, LaMancha, etc.) goats within fenced grazing areas, not necessarily near an actual barn.

Mini-barns, pre-fab, and lean-to styles don’t count.

Must be cost-effective, durable, and protect during seasonal weather extremes (Fahrenheit temps from teens to high 90’s).

Ability for minimum-hassle seasonal conversions is a huge plus. Show us your ag design-fu. Got pics? If they’re your own original designs, please feel free to share links to your publicly hosted images (please make sure you’ve secured your copyrights to any such images first, thanks!).
This is a legitimate question I was requested to ask on behalf of a neighbor who does not have internet access. The first B.S. response was merely down-voted. The second was reported by me as it was completely out of line. Other people who are seriously interested in Y!A’s "Agriculture" category are encouraged to help maintain some sort of minimum acceptable standards within this community. Thank you.
Shellybell - That sounds soooo cool!

P.S. To the Omnipotents of Y!A: Please accept my humble thanks for deleting response #2. ;oD
Thanks, circarocker06, but I can crank out designs in my sleep. What my neighbor’s looking for is adequately outlined in the original query. Now the focus is more on what’s innovative and practical vs. standard and predictable.

I was intrigued and worried what had happened overnight in north Queensland’s cyclone so I was looking through statistics and reading news reports to find that it had been severe. My regards to anyone who was in it, but at Hamilton Island I found this very very odd temperature reading which just after the height of the cyclone the temperature reached 43 degrees C at 3:45 in the morning! http://www.weatherzone.com.au/station.jsp?lt=site&lc=33106&list=ob
Its previous record was 33 degrees and that was during the day and this was at night! http://www.weatherzone.com.au/station.jsp?lt=site&lc=33106&list=ds
Somebody suggested that this was a misreading but the temperature gauge continued to read into the high thirties right up to one in the afternoon today where it mysteriously cut out (which supports the theory that it was a misreading) Nowhere else around it did it rise above 30C which to me seems odd though temperatures can vary greatly over small distances. If it wasn’t a misreading what weather phenomena caused it? A heat burst? The wind was from a warm direction and when you take into account that it gusted up to 202-5km/h it could have been heat burst. Please answer i find this very weird.

Hey everyone,

I am going to Bamajam for the first time this year and was wondering if people recommended camping there or getting a hotel? I sort of want to camp for the social scene aspect of it, but would love to have the convenience of showers, a fridge, and shelter from inclement weather in a hotel

I’m in a unit at school where we’re learning about weather. And I was just wondering these differences. I was also wondering, what exactly is a monsoon and a whirlwind? Thank You!

I’m a storm spotter. I’m supposed to call in severe weather reports to the National Weather Service. If I go down the street with a bull horn and say "This is a tornado warning, seek shelter immediately." and receive a ticket, what would be my chances of winning if I were to challenge this in court? Sources? Would I go to traffic court or small claims court? Any court fees? I’ll represent myself.
A citation for causing a public panic. I was just trying to inform people about a tornado warning.

What causes the strong winds in a North American blizzard?

a. A very strong cyclone forming over either Colorado or Southern Canada
b. The proximity of a US low pressure system to a Canadian high pressure system creates a strong pressure gradient.
c. A coating of ice on the ground results in a low-friction environment, allowing winds to blow more strongly

I know someone who has a small pomerian dog that lives only outside in weather that gets below freezing. The dog has no shelter except a cardboard box with a u-haul blanket. What would you call this kind of person?

I am doing a crossword puzzel and i need a lil bit of help with some of these questions.

1)another name for a cyclone over tropical waters.
—h—-

3)Squall lines are made up of several of these.
–l–

5)Where many storms begin.
S–
Each of the (-) stands for a space. Even if you could only answer one that would be a huge help.

Hi I have a thoroughbred who has quite a long winter coat. i have a cotton stable sheet and a heavy rainsheet on her right now. She is living outside in febuary and it gets around -20 down here. I was wondering if she would be warm enough with what she has on now? The paddock is sheltered by the barn and she has a shelter in the paddock too.

Would you help them get to safety and a shelter somewhere? Put them up for a night or more in a hotel room? make sure they had a place to stay and get out of the cold weather? Make sure they had good food to eat and a clean , safe place to bathe ? What would you do?

i’m doing a geography assignment and i don’t no what the number underneath the tropical cyclone is?

They are given all the hay they can eat, a tarp shelter and heated water. They also have thick winter coats and blankets on. Current temp. is -12. The live outside 24-7 and have been since September.
Just looking for anything anyone else knows of that might make them a little more comfortable until the weather breaks on Wednesday.
That is a good point we already do that for them, but actually with beet pulp. It is better for them than bran, and it tastes yummy too.(its got molasses in it ;))
the mash I mean.
and the barn is going up as soon as we have a clay pad they can build on.

Are they helping their neighbors shovel snow? Are they providing shelter for those who have lost power? What are feminists doing about this weather event?

A) a change in weather
B) a change in climate
C) changes in the midlatitude wave-cyclone cycle
D) transition from a cold front to a warm front

For Example

1) Fights For Money
(Lands, properties ,debts, fiancail sorrows , all commercial disputes which could lead to possible extention of forcible deaths)

2) Fights For Woman
(love,marraige,divorce,rape,murder,suicide etc)

3) Fights for Power
(Mangement tortures, egos, wars between countries for any cause etc)

4)Fights for Food
(hungry,natural calamities,good food etc)

5)Fights for Shelter
(house, rent, bills, development, protection from weather and other threats)

Fights for health
(diseases,medicines ,death)

Fight for Knowledge
(Studies,technology,patents,copyrights etc)

If you find any major categories that could be created under which few sorrows of world fit into, just write them..

Thanks.

In olden days, people used to keep their animals inside to shelter them from the harsh weather outdoors, and…as a general practice I suppose (when they couldn’t afford farmland).
And today, of course, people keep pets inside all the time, but there have been studies showing the benefits of sharing time with an animal.

So what’s your opinion? Is keeping pets a holdover from olden days, or a social necessity?
