Controversy on Global Warming?
If you type in to google or any conventional search bar "proof that global warming exists" then you will get a host of information and data proving its happening but if you type in "proof that global warming is not happening" or something similar then you will get just as much proof and data proving that it iisn’treal, like that over the past three years the world has cooled and that 2009 had the fewest and smallest hurricanes on record. But if there is so much proof either way then how can i fully believe either of them?
I also have to say its not that i doubt their reliability or that I need more proof one way or another and i can understand what its saying without the need of a science degree. I just Want to know if there is so much proof either way how can you say whole heartedly that "there is no doubt that (point of view) is true".

I’m a little bit older than most of you. Back in 1969 the New York Times carried a lengthy article by Gladwin Hill reporting on the rising hysteria of “global cooling”.
Five months later on April 22 the first Earth Day was reconized to bring awareness to the fact that humans were causing the earth to cool and we were headed for an Ice Age.
They said we had to lower our carbon use because we were causing the earth to cool. All of us young folks bought into the global cooling scare tactics. The answer then from the poiticians was higher taxes, less consumption and everything would be fine.
Now they say the earth is warming but their answers are the same, higher taxes and we will be fine.
Back then their was a car called a Yugo. The politicians wanted us to drive them. They flew around the world in Jets. Do they still do that?

Let me ask a question as to the recent revelation that the government scientists were cooking the numbers.
If you got a yearly grant of 3 million dollars to study global warming and you realized the earth was actually cooling, how many years would it take before you told them to keep the money because its a natural heating and cooling trend thats been going on for a million years?
You have to know what to look for! Take some college classes and learn the scientific method! There’s a lot of info out on the net, but you need to have the tools to make sense of it all! I accept global warming but I’m not going to tell you to do so just because I say so! You need to research the issue, learn all sides and make up your own mind! First you need to understand how science is done, and what "hypothesis" and "theory" mean in the scientific world! Don’t just accept something because Al Gore or Glenn Beck says so! You have to have a firm understanding of the scientific processes to understand the data!
all throughout history the word has had rises and declines in temperature. its just a cycle our planet goes through every few hundred years. species of animals will always go extincted no matter what…its the circle of life..only the strong survive. democrats wanna hug trees and save the world…but all they are doing is annoying smart people that might know a little bit about the way things work instead of letting people tell us what to think. politicians suck balls no matter what political side you pick. if we screwed shit up to the point that we are just now noticing it.. what makes people we can just fix it now. its kinda like trying to stop a train in ten feet. we have been screwing up our planet for a very very long time…i doubt we can do anything at this point to save it. the tree hugging hippies that run our country are just whats left over from a stupid time with bad music and free love…. A.K.A. lots and lots of acid.

Global warming/climate change has just become a new religious cult based in greedy power grabbing and hopes of world domination through "climate legislation". In the past it was the religious zealots who burned the truth telling scientists at the stake today it is climate change political zealots trying to silence the truth tellers and sell the world some very expensive SNAKE OIL.
It seems global warming advocates are determined to turn logic and biology upside down. Anyone who remebers basic high school biology knows carbon dioxide is essential to plant life as oxygen is essential to human life. These two basic facts can’t be separated. Only Obama-style liberals will attempt to convince us about how critical combating global warming is to the Earth’s survival. As then Sen. Hillary Clinton said to Gen. David Petreaus, we must be "…willing to suspend all disbelief." I’m not willing to do so!
Global warming, or climate change, which ever they decide to call it this year, is not based on science at all. it’s all based on the consensus of a few scientist who have something to gain by furthering this farce. Guess what that is? $$$$
Anyone who believes Carbon Dioxide is a pollutant should stop breathing. Since we exhale Carbon Dioxide in every breath, we are literally polluting the atmosphere. So stop breathing and reduce your carbon footprint, or say NO to cap and trade & the whole global warming hoax.
We can’t project an accurate forecast a week in advance and yet we say that we’re doomed in the future? I believe in eliminating waste and keeping things clean so that I, and my family, can safely enjoy the outdoors but I also know where the comforts of life come from and that is manufacturing that uses energy and supplies that are either grown or mined somehow. Follow the research grants and see what is being pushed.
I have a simple question I would like someone to answer for me, If the specific gravity (relative density) of air is 1.00 and the specific gravity (relative density) of CO2 is 1.5189, that means CO2 is heavier than air and settles on the Earth’s surface where green plants need it. How then can CO2 be in the Earth’s upper atmosphere and stratosphere trapping the Sun’s rays and heating up the planet? Anybody? Anybody? Hello? That’s what I thought.
First thing you need to do is go to college and earn a degree in any field of science. You will learn about statistics and the scientific method and other facets of doing science. Once you have this knowledge you will begin to understand why two different interpretations are possible for the same set of data.
Maybe you shouldn’t rely on the number of Google search results to be a metric of reality?
If you search "proof that chemtrails exist", and "proof that chemtrails dont exist", you get 133x the number of results for the former. However, it is widely accepted that chemtrails are nothing more than a crackpot conspiracy theory.
If you look at the evidence from trusted scientific organizations, it is very clear that global warming is not only happening, but is indeed caused by human activity.

A more realistic way of deciding whether some science is accurate or not is to use scientific literature. This means you don’t use internet blogs, or newspapers. You use information from scientific organisations like NASA, the Institute of Physics, National Academy of Science etc.
Or you use scientific literature which can be found in places like this:

The newspaper and blog writers are very often flat out, demonstrably wrong.
kenamaddox: you’re confused on a couple of fronts. First off, the ‘global cooling’ scare was mostly a popular media thing, the majority of the scientific research projected warming:

Also, the worry was not about carbon dioxide causing cooling - we’ve known it’s casued warming since Joseph Fourier worked it out in 1824. I was about aerosols which reflect sunlight - they do cause cooling, we still know that and they’ve cancelled out almost half the warming we would have experienced from greenhouse gases:

Some work suggested that if you quadrupled aerosols and held them like that, you could trigger an ice age. In fact, we didn’t quadruple aerosols and hold them there, so the theory was never tested.
The controversy is between those who reach a conclusion via science and those who reach a conclusion via consensus.
The latter group have a poor grasp of the scientific method.
The sun has various cycles… I bet you could compare those to global temperatures and find an OBVIOUS connection.
Look at the sites that are listed. Look for scientific sources that you trust and ignore the political blogs. If you look you will see that there no site listed under the "not happening" that is an institution of climatology. You will find maybe two that have scientific content. If you look at the "proof that it exists" you will find sites with full explanations and most importantly, links to the actual papers that their conclusion are based on. You can’t tell from google, but look at the sites and you will see the "yes" are supported by evidence and the "no" is a bunch of political rants.
