Window film is for protection from the sun, not a hurricane. I might be way off base here but that is the only thing I know of that you could mean……:)
I haven’t seen the polyester-film-coated windows through a hurricane, but I have seen video demonstrations of someone trying to break though a coated window with a baseball bat. The window broke, but all the pieces stayed in the window, allowing the window still to be an effective barrier against entry.
If the window didn’t shatter and fragment under the assault of a baseball bat, it would probably hold up under hurricane conditions.
Window Films are effective if they are thicker -8 ML and attached to the glass and frame with either a wet seal system Silicone- -or a mechanical Batten System. These films are extensively tested and films like Llumar Magnum 8 ML Thickness have met the 4.5 lb missile test on annealed glass.

We have numerous stories of customers who found these films to be extremely effective and they also cut the UV and Solar Heat at the same time.
The IWFA has some very specific guidelines concerning statements about security window films. We are a Tampa based Vista dealer and we recommend that you consider all options and select a reputable dealer . Ask questions and make an educated choice.
