That is not true. Although width tends to increase with strength it is not used to determine the rating. Although it’s unusual, F2 tornadoes have been over a mile wide (The record is a 2.5 mile wide F4). The scale is based on the severity of the damage. It is actually fairly common for tornadoes to intensify as they narrow. This tornado was an example as it reached F5 strength during the shrinking stage.
Also, F5 tornadoes are extremely rare, literally less than one in a thousand. If you see a tornado, no matter how big, the chances of it being an F5 are tiny.
btw, this tornado was at most 330 yards wide, les than a quarter of a mile.
a really good video =) and the tornado is amazing
thanks =D
very good footage great…but mister with cap should not stay excactly into the cam..does that wuite a few times and then he also requests for a picture! hahaha I would do the same..amazing great to share here..thanks
you’re welcome man
good ol’ Manitoban folk all nice n friendly… crazy twister.
I hope you know that it still is a tornado even though you can’t see it yet.really. even if u can’t see it it still is a deadly tornado.
yes of course it is a deadly tornado. .
oakville ontario???????????????
yup
hey dude…i wanna a picture too :(((
lol
Maybe not so deadly. At least nobody as killed in this one.
I read all the info you had about the F5 tornadoes. 3 tornadoes in the world with 5 rating since 1999. This just shows how amazing the 1974 super outbreak on April 3-4 was. During that tornado outbreak there was 6 tornadoes that were given an F5 rating. Six in one event compared to three in practically a decade, now that just shows how awesome that 1974 outbreak was. Good video on this tornado and the other 2 that were seen.
@Torn80cj there was a F5 tornado around here in 1974 in Xaiver.
@Torn80cj Im sorry i mean Xenia.
Yeah, that was a bad one, I still remember seeing it in the news.
@Torn80cj my parents tell me a story about it alot
There is a photo of this tornado somewhere on the internet, it was a wedge tornado. The photo is black and white if I remember correctly. Somebody caught part of it on film also. The part caught on film, the tornado is almost invisible.
@Torn80cj wow. can you send me a link?
I’ll have to run across it again, I have seen so many tornado vids and pics that I can’t remember what I saw it on. But I’ll let you know when I find it or run across it again.
I just found the film. Type ‘Xenia, Ohio Tornado’ in the search box and it will bring up the film of the tornado on youtube.
I found two photos, but they are in color, still haven’t found the black n white photo. But if you’ll google ’super outbreak of 1974′ the one with wikipedia will show two photos of the Xenia tornado. They are good photos of it too.
@Torn80cj ok will do and thanks
