You’ll have maybe three days advance notice before getting an accurate idea where a hurricane comes ashore. Just watch the news, but don’t obsess over it. It’s not good for your health.
We have not been hit, years. Usually hi-winds, gusty. Soo, just come on down, have fun…
The wedding would have to be postponed because of a hurricane, right? So why worry.
Seriously, the chances of getting your hair messed up during a hurricane are nothing compared to the better chances that the groom won’t show up for the wedding, or the bride will pass out from the heat during the festivities.
You will have sufficient time to say your final good-byes to everyone before they meet a horrible fate from the hurricane, grab your stuff, get in your car and go home.
Have a hurricane party and get really drunk. That is what some crazy locals do.
Listen, your chances of dying from a hurricane are very slim because you will be notified ahead of time to prepare. You should be much more scared of dying from a car accident, plane crash, getting hit by lightning or food poisoning. If you have to prepare for a hurricane, then you should find an emergency place to stay in such as a hotel inland, a public school, or a safe home away from the beach with windows blocked with shutters. Then you will buy enough water and can of food for at least two weeks in case the electricity would run out and fill up your gas tank. If I had to choose between a tsunami, earthquake, tornado, volcano, , I will probably choose the hurricane just because I can prepare for it. Of course afterwards is disastrous but at least nobody dies from it except for the idiots who go outside during the storm and get hit by an object, or after the storm and they get electrocuted for a power line in the street in a puddle of water.
were clear of hurricanes this would b our 6th year i think without any hurricane so you should be fine
dont freask out hurrricanes arent bad the worst was 04 or 05 but hey that was five to six years ago its okay
We get anywhere from 24-36 hours warning. Hope for the best, prepare for the worse is the best thing to do. Unless you own a house you can drive away, stay a day in Orlando or Tampa, then came back. It is nothing to fear, but they should be respected.
Another suggestion is to buy trip insurance. It’s really cheap if you buy it now and it will reimburse any flight costs or hotel deposits should you have to cancel due to a hurricane. The longer you wait and the closer the date of your trip, the more it costs.
As far as worrying about a hurricane, why? You can’t do anything about it anyway. You will have plenty of warning. Just pay attention to the weather and if you are there and one is approaching, do what you are told. If they say to evacuate, get out! The locals don’t need uninformed tourists there after the storm, which is the worst part of a hurricane anyway. No power. Very hot. Blocked streets and damaged buildings. There may be no water and food may be scarce or non-existent. Don’t try to ride one out. Leave that for the crazy locals like me. We know what we are doing and can make educated choices as a result. Tourists don’t know and therefore, tend to make bad choices.
