http://maps.csc.noaa.gov/hurricanes/

Use the "Query Storm Tracks" link. You can search by state, county, zip code, etc. It will show you storm tracks and list each storm with date with a total count. Limit your search to category 3, 4 and 5 hurricanes to get the best results. In addition to hurricane history, you can also find out about Tropical Storms, Depressions, etc.

Charlotte County: 12 category 4 hurricanes The first was in 1926, the most recent was Charley in 2004. No category 5 hurricanes. 19 category 3 hurricanes (1871 - 2005).

It's a very cool site and because the source is NOAA you know the information is accurate.

I don't think that info is available online but you can ask the experts at the Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Lab in Miami at aoml.webmaster@noaa.gov
