All construction prices have come down because of the economy and the fact that key materials especially steel have been coming down for the last 8 or 9 months.

i live in south florida and i'm not sure what you mean by "high end" but i think you've got your own interpretation. things like slate, clay and copper roofs, wet plaster walls and ceilings, marble and exotic wood flooring(not home depot stuff), the work of real skilled tradesmen, etc... has not gone down cause real stuff doesn't change every time the wind blows. in this economy, the top 1/2% has been building and adding on to their castles more now than ever. here where i live, that's what we consider high-end. most of my customers have "people" i don't usually meet the homeowners themselves and i work on their homes sometimes for a year. there's not a lack of money out there. thanks to us all being like sheep and borrowing our lives from the rich there is a major unbalance. no those folks don't get price breaks, they pay more. they send representatives to italy or brazil to pick their bathroom tiles from the side of a mountian. i recently finished a six month long slate roof for the origional founder of the home depot that ended up costing him over $750,000.00. he's in his 80's and doesn't even live in florida! money has been landing in fewer and fewer hands giving most of us a hard time but making a few richer than ever. keep getting laons and shopping at big boxes and mabye "high-end" stuff will get even cheaper. i doubt it
