Explain why temperature does not change when ice transforms from a solid to a liquid (in an ideal case).
A Specific heat of the ice absorbs energy.
B Latent heat is required to change states.
C The statement is incorrect; the temperature must change

I won’t tell you to do your own homework, but at least take these answers and look them up, review them so that you understand, not just turn them in, okay?
(1) According to the Saffir–Simpson Hurricane Scale, (A) Wind speed and storm surge.
(2) Tornadoes are extreme low pressure zones, and since everything flows from high to low in nature, air flows *into* the tornado.
(3) They claim that (B) global temperature has increased about 0.5°C. Very tough to say for reality though, as our actual measuring tools and methods have changed greatly. but that’s the answer.
(4) Volcanic aerosols cause negative climate forcing (B), reducing global temperature.
(5) The Gulf Stream is very warm, with high salinity (C)
(6) The answer that your teacher wants is "(A) Slow down." In reality, my professional opinion is (C), no change. But that’s not the Greenpeace, flower-child, Al Gore’s butt-kissing answer that’s the "right answer" for you."
(7) Infrared (C). Infrared is the definition of thermal energy, which is heat.
(8) A cold front, where a cold air mass meets a warm, humid and unstable air mass. (A)
(9) Decreases (B). 70% of the entire atmosphere is contained within the lower 11 - 17 km of the atmosphere, called the troposphere.
(10) During the actual phase change of ice to water, temperature is constant due to (A) specific heat of the ice/water absorbing the energy (not totally accurate terminology, but close enough).Transitions between solid, liquid, and gaseous phases typically involve large amounts of energy compared to the specific heat. If heat were added at a constant rate to a mass of ice to take it through its phase changes to liquid water and then to steam, the energies required to accomplish the phase changes (called the latent heat of fusion and latent heat of vaporization ) would lead to plateaus in a temperature vs time graph (so areas where temperature wasn’t changing).
