How can you still claim that global warming is real? #2?
Myth #1: Scientists Agree the Earth Is Warming. While ground-level temperature measurements suggest the earth has warmed between 0.3 and 0.6 degrees Celsius since 1850, global satellite data, the most reliable of climate measurements, show no evidence of warming during the past 18 years. Even if the earth’s temperature has increased slightly, the increase is well within the natural range of known temperature variation over the last 15,000 years. Indeed, the earth experienced greater warming between the 10th and 15th centuries - a time when vineyards thrived in England and Vikings colonized Greenland and built settlements in Canada.
Myth #2: Humans Are Causing Global Warming. Scientists do not agree that humans discernibly influence global climate because the evidence supporting that theory is weak. The scientific experts most directly concerned with climate conditions reject the theory by a wide margin.
* A Gallup poll found that only 17 percent of the members of the Meteorological Society and the American Geophysical Society think that the warming of the 20th century has been a result of greenhouse gas emissions - principally CO2 from burning fossil fuels. [See Figure II.]
* Only 13 percent of the scientists responding to a survey conducted by the environmental organization Greenpeace believe catastrophic climate change will result from continuing current patterns of energy use.
* More than 100 noted scientists, including the former president of the National Academy of Sciences, signed a letter declaring that costly actions to reduce greenhouse gases are not justified by the best available evidence.
While atmospheric carbon dioxide has increased by 28 percent over the past 150 years, human-generated carbon dioxide could have played only a small part in any warming, since most of the warming occurred prior to 1940 - before most human-caused carbon dioxide emissions.
Myth # 3: Human-Caused Global Warming Will Cause Cataclysmic Environmental Problems.Sea levels are rising around the globe, though not uniformly. In fact, sea levels have risen more than 300 feet over the last 18,000 years - far predating any possible human impact. Rising sea levels are natural in between ice ages. Contrary to the predictions of global warming theorists, the current rate of increase is slower than the average rate over the 18,000-year period.
* Since the 1940s the National Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory has documented a decrease in both the intensity and number of hurricanes.
* From 1991 through 1995, relatively few hurricanes occurred, and even the unusually intense 1995 hurricane season did not reverse the downward trend.
* The 1996 IPCC report on climate change found a worldwide significant increase in tropical storms unlikely; some regions may experience increased activity while others will see fewer, less severe storms.

Get a clue and don’t buy everything your political leaders want you to believe…they have other motives!
Oh poor Dawei, its hard to argue with the facts isn’t it, well a clever little snip will be just as efficient as a valid argument won’t it? Keep spending that extra money to live "Green" your paying Al Gore’s enormous power bill.

It’s very clear global warming is real. It is equally clear the > current < cycle of global warming started about 12,000 years ago - with the end of the last ice age. That is why the Sahara was grassland 11,000 years ago and is now desert.
The fact global warming started when there were almost no people and certainly no automobiles is a good indication that human activity is not the cause. That also means - for good or bad - we cannot be the solution. Any money raised by "carbon offsets" or "carbon taxes" is basically money wasted - unless you view AGW research as an employment program.
Lost in the debate are the needs to reduce pollution (especially in countries like China & India) and to study the Earth so we can adjust to its changes.
Note that the Earth appears to be at the end of a warming cycle and can be expected to begin cooling "soon" (in geological terms). That could be tomorrow or it could be thousands of years in the future. Global temperature is the result of interactions between the Earth and the Sun that we don’t understand and can’t predict.
because science nerds never shut up! i hate trees!!! >:)
Movie to Maine.
Look at a chart from a SCIENTIFIC site that has no political ideals. Look at CO2 levels and global temperatures. For the past 370,000 years, they have steadily risen and fallen. Now look at the 30,000 years that man came in to place. The CO2 levels and global temperatures sky rocket. Global temperatures have increased by very little. However, earth itself, proven by the 370,000 years before human kind, can not produce this kind of CO2 and global temperature increase. It’s too drastic for nature itself to happen. And global warming is not just political, either, it’s a serious issue that no matter what political party you support you need to care about. Whether you believe global warming is man-made or not has nothing to do about being Republican or Democrat. I’m Republican for your information and I highly believe in global warming.
Do you have any original thoughts of your own, or do you just plagiarize your way through life?
Ah, shoot Dawei–I was just about to rip through these "myths". Even did a quick analysis on UAH and RSS over the past 18 years (curious timeframe).
Not going to waste my time with plagiarizers…especially those who plagiarize from the National Center for Policy Analysis, who clearly have no analysis skills whatsoever.

Alright Chris.
Myth #1.
-I’m not convinced that satellites are necessarily the most reliable, but in any case, both UAH and RSS do show warming for the period of Jan 1992 to Jan 2010. You can check this yourself in excel.
-It’s odd that ncpa isn’t particularly fond of surface measurements, but gladly accept proxy data for a thousand years ago.
Myth #2
-First bullet is plainly incorrect, there isn’t enough information for the second, and the third is largely irrelevant.
Myth #3
-Mostly irrelevant.
-Never even heard of the "National Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory". Only reference that google can find is by ncpa themselves.
-1991 to 1995 is very short term, i.e. not climate.
-Third bullet isn’t new.
Of course, the report you plagiarize is from 1997. Just a tad out of date.
its real . the issue is so what
Because REAL science (as opposed the reactionary twaddle) supports the contention that Androgenic Climate Change is a fact
Here are the actual stats on AGU members beliefs on global warming. Let me know if you have trouble understanding the graph, because I can explain it to you using little words if need be.

I’ve noticed global warming seems to become very intense during the summers, and almost completely reverses itself from the middle of November through April each year.
None of the comments made in this ‘question’ are true. Heat physics simply doesn’t work that way. The ‘greenhouse’ effect has been accepted and proved science for 100 years. CO2, methane, water vapor and other gasses are known for their effect on reflecting infrared rays attempting to exit the earth. We also know how much is too much. (400ppm of CO2 is ‘too much’) We know that today CO2 equals 386ppm and rises at a rate of 12 to 15ppm per decade. We know how much of that comes from burning fossil fuels….most of it! We also know that the generated heat from this infrared reflection has to go somewhere…and we DO know where it’s going and why the heat index hasn’t shot straight up off the charts. The excess heat goes to warm the oceans and melt the ice. To melt ice requires heat…the ice absorbs the heat energy and the ice melts. That’s why your ice tea gets and stays cold as long as there’s ice in the glass. When all the ice is gone, the tea warms up as it absorbs heat from the surrounding air. That’s the heat physics Cliff Notes and nobody can deny it. That’s why the overall temperatures have only risen a few tenths of a degree. There’s a lot of ice and a lot of ocean. As long as we have ice…we’re okay. Temperatures aren’t going to rise dozens of degrees, but they will rise and they have as expressed that rise by the fact that the treeline is moving north and tropical pests are found at higher latitudes. The ‘deniers’ have been listening to far too much blather from the right wing radio dummies as this ‘question’ proves. This is process that’s ongoing and will go on. X amount of solar energy comes in. X amount is trapped. The excess heat has to warm ’something’. The longer the incoming heat index exceeds the outgoing heat index temperatures MUST rise…that’s the nature of the beast. By the way…’warming’ in other eras resulted from other factors. In our time it’s burning fossil fuels. That’s science and the data proves it!
Graph please, proving no warming over the last 18 years (your words), but as it doesn’t exist I won’t hold my breath!
Yep, you can quote all that stuff, but you know, you are deluding yourself! I know you know because I can judge by what you have written that you are not stupid. Having said that, I wish I could adopt your attitude, because all the hand-wringing in the world is not going to stop whatever is happening.
We will either continue into catastrophe, or nature will take care of the situation and balance things out. Either way, people are going to carry on carrying on doing what they are doing, That will NOT change.
I agree with you. We can’t claim it’s real when it’s not.
