You are more at risk if you plan something in the Caribbean. However to be perfectly honest - just don't plan a honeymoon in a country that is at risk. There is a whole world out there to explore - Tahiti...Portugal...Argentina....Hawaii...New Zealand We were in Belize when Hurricane Wilma went through. We were on the mainland more to the south (Jaguar Lodge to be exact - nice place). We had 2 days of slightly cloudy weather & any trips out onto the water were cancelled, so we just went inland to the Mayan Ruins & cave tubing. The sun shone most of the time but we did have a bit of rain. Was still warm though & we still enjoyed ourselves. We did our snorkling along the beach. I have our honeymoon planned for the first week of July this year in the Carribean and our travel agent said we should be fine. http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ has a bunch of information about hurricane seasons. If you're set on Coasta Rica don't settle for something else just because of weather....you can make it work with a little research. June and July are the very beginning months of hurricane season. If the weather is bad, you can cancel and still get a refund. Hope all works out!
