How do you clean a spoiled freezer?
We are from the Galveston area, and evacuated because of Hurricane Ike. We had a friend check on our house, and it is ok, but I know our freezer and refrigerator will be spoiled. After we throw everything out, how do we clean the smell out? I’m going to try to get cleaning supplies before we head home, in case the stores are closed.

use vinegar that will get rid of the smell and also clean it out .and make sure you buy some baking soda to put back in the fridge and freezer after you clean it.
After cleaning refrig and freezer with vinegar/water and then with baking soda/water solutions, if odors persist, use crumpled black and white newspapers to absorb odors. Put crumpled newspapers inside each compartment and close the doors for a day or two. I hope this helps.
