Thanks for writing. The Mariner Inn was a little motel, two storey, been there for years. Right there on the Seawall Blvd. Stayed there three years ago, when I went on a cruise from Galveston. Sad to see the destruction - funny, don't see any more seagulls. They were THICK down there ... guess they all got blown away. :(

The Flagship still stands, although it did suffer some damage. The ramp to get up to it from the street however was washed away. I'm not sure which building was the Mariner Inn. Basically, there were two new condos on the east end that made it, an older motel on piers, a large yellow building still stood but the first floors were wiped out, McDonald's made it, although half it's parking lot was gone, and the Flagship. Everything else outside the seawall is gone.

The Flagship Hotel: did it survive? How about the Mariner Inn? Know Murdoch's didn't ...

The only thing was the general request by officials not to take pictures of any dead bodies. We didn't see any however. We were allowed free roaming access the whole time, aside from when we went to leave on I45 the first time and were turned back, and when we tried to go to the western part of the island, which evidently part of the road was washed out. Benefits of being an independent and not running around with satellite trucks maybe?

Did you all encounter any of the media blackout that was supposed to have been going on in Galveston/Bolivar? That is to say, did that blackout impact your work there?

Great videos!
