no it does look different. If you lived here you would know the difference. Yes.. so much has been done to help it build back up but SO much is gone too! It is very different still but being open to public and tourists is great… Galveston can & will rebuild 100%
g town is is my mane home
I was in Galveston as one of the first EMS responders there and it deffently was quite amazing and an experiance that will always be with me.

fuck u IKE!! u kan’t hold us down…g town 409
After Hurricane Ike The good citizens of Galveston got together, got organised, and got busy. By contrast the “good citizens” of New Orleans did nothing but cry and wait for the federal government bureaucracy to mismanage, mishandle, and spend untold millions and then be soundly and roundly criticized for their half-hearted effort
Just proves you can get more accomplished with a hammer in your hand than a crack pipe.
Yeap, If NO knew how to act civil and help others then appreciate the help then they wouldn’t of suffer much. We got hit hard but like you said we got together and help each other and that was what really made some people feel better and a bit relief.
that was probaly the funniest thing ive ever read on youtube. people in galveston have too much pride to sit around and bitch thats the difference.

I remember hearing about the fires on the radio. Not on tv, I still had no power. I didn’t get power back until 16 days after Ike hit.

@MultiWILLIE You obviously never been to the best places in texas man. Don’t judge a state before you fully visited it all.
Texans always rebuild, it’s what we do best. Recover after adversity, it’s in our blood. Ike was a bitch though, tested our mettle (not metal, but mettle).
watching this video almost makes me want to cry, this was the worst time of my life, so many people homeless all childhood land marks gone.. But i guess it could have been worse, Galveston has bounced back wonderfully thou, alot of place’s that were ran down and ghetto got redone and everything looks very nice….God Bless Texas!!!!
