No. Have you noticed that sometimes the weather will repeat itself several days in a row. For example, the weather could be cold and rainy for several days in a row. Another example is a month of repeating hot and dry weather. Meteorologists refer to repeating weather as a weather pattern. It is common for the weather to become locked in a repeating pattern. The same weather will occur day after day. Then suddenly one day the weather changes and for example dry weather for 2 weeks becomes rainy weather for a week. When this happens it is referred to as a weather pattern change.

Yes, A hurricane in the North Atlantic is caused by the weather over North Africa. Depending on conditions in Africa multiple hurricanes can be generated in a season. Generally a hurricane and Typhoon (Hurricane in the Pacific) travel west until the reach land then they travel north. Cyclones along the East Pacific generally travel north and are much weaker then Hurricanes and Typhoons. Hurricanes, Typhoons, Cyclones and Tropical depressions are similar just called different things in different parts of the world and depend on strength of the system. Anything in weather that happens more then once is a weather pattern. Certain conditions set up to cause a weather effect. Check out the waves hitting Hawaii.
