Is Grenada affected by the hurricane season?
My husband and I can only travel at the end of September and I know the Caribbean should be avoided because it is hurricane season. But I was wondering if an island like Grenada was affected because it’s further south? Would anyone happen to know? thanks!

Grenada is technically within the "hurricane belt", though on the far southern fringe. Islands outside the hurricane belt are Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao and Margarita Island. While being outside the hurricane belt the likelihood of being affected by a hurricane is less but they aren’t immune to hurricanes, they can and do get affected on occasion. Grenada has a higher risk then those outside the belt to the south but less risk then those mid-belt such as Antigua. I travel frequently during hurricane season and have never had a problem, its really all hit or miss. I would suggest though that you take out travel insurance to cover yourself should that occur. Otherwise September is a great time to go to the Caribbean in that its low season, fewer other tourists and lower prices.
Yes, Grenada is affected by hurricanes. Unfortunately, hurricane Emily hit Grenada on 2005.
Yes, but low risk.
Yes. They had a big hurricane there a few years ago. Any island in the Caribbean is subject to hurricanes, especially in September. The ABC Islands are said to be "out of the hurricane zone" and they DO get fewer hurricanes than the rest of the Caribbean.
Perhaps you should consider a cruise. You get to see different islands and the ships avoid the hurricanes - although you MAY have higher seas or miss particular ports.
You could always book your trip and make sure the trip insurance you buy allows cancellation for a hurricane and pays for evacuation in case a hurricane hits while you’re there.
