The camera should be low on power and if the batteries run out you die, but in order for the power to be replenished you must delete one person every day or several hours. I think that would bring a lot more into it. Also have the main character get into a fight with someone that he really cares about...say an old friend and decides to make a drastic decision like deleteing his/or her picture.
