its hurricane season!?
do you love or hate hurricanes? what do you do when a hurricane hits? do you have to evacuate? any hurricane stories/experiences? ever had any severe hurricane damage to property?
I live off the Gulf in FL and I live for hurricanes! I hope every year that we get one. and when we do, I play in it for hours or hang out at the beach! I live in a non-evactuated zone, but I also go to a shelter and then leave a few hours into the storm to go home (they get mad at me).
I think my favorite storm was hurricane Charley though. I was at Busch Gardens on Montu ( a roller coaster) a few hours before it was supposed to hit. It was so windy and rocking the ride so much, that they had to close the park and secure the area. It was fun though!
the power at my house usually goes out during a hurricane (and wont come back on for a few days), and theres a few trees/debri that are all over the street, but no really severe damage. MY church however, had some damage. The sign came down and we had to fix up the roof and buy some new windows.
but even though theres damage and danger, and my parents argue with me, I still LOVE hurricanes and continue to go out in them.

I love hurricanes too. Bill is expected to become a major hurricane tomorrow. Right now it has winds of 110 MPH. 111 will make it a major hurricane. I’m hoping we get the effects of Bill. I enjoy filming a lot of storms. Hurricanes, tornadoes, lightning shows, severe thunderstorms, etc.
Love hurricanes!!! It’s fun to see people scramble last minute to get their "disaster kits" ready!!! I live in hawaii, and it’s hurricane season now. We’ve had couple of close calls, but none like 1982 -Hurricane Iwa (pronounced ee-vah), or like 1992 - Hurricane Iniki which devasted the island of Kau’ai. It was deathly calm where I lived on o’ahu during Hurricane Iniki. That was so weird!! the west side of O’ahu got trashed, but not as bad as the island of Kau’ai.
The tropics are neat. Been thru Buelah 1967 lots of damage Cat 3 or 4, been thru Allen Cat 5 all the way from africa, cat 2 when it hit Brownsville very little damage but extreme tides, lately was Dolly and it was interesting. Seems like tropical storms drop more rain before they become hurricanes been thru about 10 or 12 of those. Yep tis the season.
nope i guess
I dont know why but i also love them but they can be very dangerous tho.. people loses homes from them, people life changed because of a Hurricane and some people die from them.. like Hurricane katrina
I live in Texas, last year hurricane ike (Strong Category 2 near 3) hit us, we lost power about a week the whole city was dark at night which was pretty cool.. alot of places was damaged but recover fast
the only thing that hurricane damage at my house was the backyard fences fell, some pieces of my roof flew away, and alot of trees down
I don’t need to evacuated since i live far inland..
Love to study the fascinating effects and science behind hurricanes; hate when they cause lots of death and destruction.
