Iwhat city or community in southwest florida has the least hurricane activities?
I plan to move to florida and want to chose the safest place to live and also to be able to get homeowner insurance. thanks for all information.

As soon as you cross the state line into Florida, the homeowner insurance rates soar like a rocket. I can say that Tampa and Jacksonville haven’t had a direct hit by a hurricane in many many years, but have seen some mighty close calls. And ya’ never know, next year could be the one. That said, no part of Florida is safe from the effects of a hurricane, but the weather ‘casters tell us the chances of a hurricane are less between Daytona Beach and Jacksonville. That’s true, until that area get hits by one.
As for southwest Florida, all of the coast is wide open to a hit. There is no safest place except on high ground or a stilted home, which is hard to find. Naples was hit by Wilma in 2005, Port Charlotte was hammered by Charlie in 2004. The other downside to the SW coast of the state is that much of the area is prone to flooding with the storm surge and rainfall from a hurricane. Flood insurance is a PITA.
