This part 1 of my live footage of Hurricane Charley which struck the southwest Florida peninsula on Friday, August 13, 2004. Charley came in and the National Hurricane Center in Miami forecasted the storm to move north and make landfall in the Tampa Bay area. I was in Desoto County in the SW corner of the county & caught the full impact of the eyewall…..Never heard sounds like that before & dont plan on it ever again if I can help it.
I grew up in Arcadia, Fl. I currently livein Fort Myers, Cape Coral, FL. I hated hurricane Charley. That was my first and certainly not my last. Wilma hit us pretty hard.
i was on vacation when it hit orlando it was pretty funny thunder and lightning all afternoon then it hit and these frogs came into the lobby of the hotel lol.
I was in Bonita Springs which is about 40-50 miles south of Punta Gorda, where the eye wall was. Charley went through a preiod of rapid intensification.
You must have been a good ways from the eye. The eye passed within a mile of the house I was living in at the time and we watched it all from the doorway. You couldn’t see the trees blowing around through the wind and sideways rain. It was like the nothing from the never ending story.

What about Fay today? I hated Charley, Katrina and Wilma.

I lived in Tampa(still do)and basicly all we were hearing is gtfo from everyone. Literally everyone in my area evacuated, literally no cars on the road the day of the landfall. I never listened to meteorolagists after this. Look at ts fay this year. Again We were supposed to get hit by it, but nothing
to rxexexd, where to do you live? Fort Myers or Cape Coral, There is no such place as Fort Myers,Cape Coral, F. I live in Cape Coral and do not wish to be associated with crime riddled Ft Myers.
I don’t live in Southwest Florida. I live in the Birmingham, Alabama area. My grandparents live down there and I was visiting them at the time of Charley.
Well, the thing is, they have a mind of their own. I was down there is SW FL and I heard them say, including the NHC in Miami, that Charley was going to hit Tampa and they did not change their forecast track until the storm had already made its turn toward SW FL.

I live in Polk County, It came right over me… All the trees fell on top of the lines, Sparks all across the yard. Everything in the house started smoking and going crazy… It was intense…
Bet that was scary. Where do you live in Polk County? I used to live in Lakeland a long time ago.
I live in Lakeland, That year we had three come over us all in the same month… I have always lived down here and haven’t had another one sense. I love storms, Even though it’s bad news for some (Never wish anything to happen to anyone) But I enjoy the extreme weather…
You also had Frances and Jeanne that year. Have you heard of Mulberry, just south of town? And, do you live north or south of the Polk Parkway? You have lightning, thunderstorms about this time of year, about every afternoon around 3 or 4?
Yep, I have lived here most my life… I went to mulberry schools through all my grades… I lived in Mulberry then moved up to south Lakeland… I know everything about this place…
I live in PC myself. one night during one of the storms I saw a funnnel cloud shooting right across the sky at 60 mph.
I am remembering the 5-year aniversary today.
i live in seminole county and we got hit pretty hard by all 3 hurricanes! i stood outside and watched all 3 - drinking heavily - wondering if that was going to be the 1 or not! u gotta love hurricanes! extreme weather!

august 13 is my birthday i lived in arcadia at the time ,it was pretty intense shit…..luckly my house wasnt destroyed but everything around it was.
