Should I evacuate NJ for Hurricane Bill since it’s so close?
Hi, I have been tracking Hurricane Bill, and I can see that it’s getting a bit close. Should I evacuate early, just to be safe?

Hey jack, you might want to leave because it is already a cat 4. I would love to see the video of you surfing when it hits though, you might even be famous on youtube.
From the looks of the radar right now, I am not sure that it will make it all the way up to NJ. It is still southeast of the bahamas, and they are expected to get the worse. If it does end up coming your way, i think they will give you ample notice if you need to vacate the area.

As you can see it’s not even planning to make it on land….so far.

All the model’s are saying that it’s not making the land..so if the models are that closely together..you can predict that it’s not going to land.
EDIT: Jack it’s not even going to HIT Florida, but it will make some sweet waves.
Well, maybe but, It may hit… it’s most likely. Right now, Hurricane Bill is a category 4, and is expected to become a category 5, in a few days.
no dont i live on the beach in florida and i only evacuate for a catigory 4s and 5s just relax and go surfing
Hell Yeah I would..
At this point I would say no. If you look at the predicted track, (I like stormpulse.com, it’s pretty easy to use.), no one on the east coast is in the cone, (I call the colored area around the track a cone.) What you are looking out for is rather or not you are in the cone. If you were in the cone, you may want to consider leaving if… 1. You are near a body of water that will be affected by the surge, (If you are get out.). 2. If you are surrounded by trees that will go through your home when they fall. or 3. If you are nervous and don’t think you can stomach going through a storm.
I’ve done this hurricane thing my entire life it’s just a matter of being in the cone. If you are outside the cone you may experience winds, rain, etc., but it won’t be life threatening. At this point I’d advise that you keep an eye out for that cone and wait and see; at this point there’s no real need to waste your money on evacuating.
Right now Bill is a CAT4 but by the time it makes landfall(which may not even happen) the winds are forecast to be around 90mph. Personally I would just stock up on some water and wait it out.
I live in Ct and im thinking about the same questin. Im thinking that I should just evacuate because Its supposed to be like Katrina and I dont want to be killed. It ssupposed to be a category 5 with winds with 155 miles per hour and higher
Yes, immediately move to Florida where you will be safe.
Sheesh.
I live about 40 miles from Sea Bright in NJ so if it hits nj there isn’t any place to be safe i also am asking my self that question cause you will be safe if your 100 or more miles away from the ocean and NJ is about 70 miles across if you decide not to evacuate then go onto the lowest floor of your house and go into a room with the least amount of windows and stay away from any windows or glass doors try to make a fort under a sturdy table. Charge up all cellphones and don’t use unless for an emergency If you have pets take pics with you and them also take pics of cars you own. Bring all important documents with you and put all of your lawn furniture inside or secure it. Bring activities with you food, pet supplies (if you have a pet), extra clothes, water, blankets/bedding,and anything else you might want. I’m going to have to do that because my parents don’t think it’s that serious even though it is. I hope this helps here are some links:
