According to this link, and another which I cannot find we’re under a tropical storm/hurricane watch. The link told us to prepare and stuff, but is all that really needed? It’s west orange new jersey, so it’s close to new york and the jersey shore.

If preparation is needed, please gives guidlines/tips on how to prepare. We only have a day left!
It also scares me that the weather channel said that this could easily turn into a warning, It has my whole enighborhood a little shaky.

DANG!!! Me & my husband are going to cancun next saturday for 7 days and I have been watching the tropics and so far so good UNTIL TODAY!!!! It is suppose to go right towards the yucatan peninsula saturday (the day we arrive). What are the chances the entire week will be ruined? Have you ever been in a tropical storm down there? How long will the rain last? I AM so disappointed we have been working our tail off and were so looking forward to this & now I am afraid it is ruined!

Yes, we are a more sophisticated nation, but I also noticed some frightening things in the recent past. One year, a storm was headed towards Galveston/Houston but was predicted to turn away to the West or NW. Well, the weather radio played old repeats all day long, which made me suspicious at the LACK of new info. Sure enough, the storm was still heading towards Galveston & long after it was expected to turn. Officials didn’t seem to want to "unnecessarilly" worry or evacuate the Galveston area, so they seemingly were staying silent & saying nothing at all. If the storm had strengthened & stayed on that course, it could have been bad for the people there. We’ve seen that these storms can mushroom in a hurry! Why play politics with people’s lives? It would’ve been impossible to evacuate Galveston, Texas City, etc. within the short time that was left if it had continued that direction. Officials should not gamble like that, which I think makes a disaster more likely.

OK now as we all should know there has been a tropical storm in Guatemala this weekend and it killed alot of people. I am ok with hearing that, im sorry about the people but it happens. NOW what i wanna know is why are there TWO HUGE sink holes in Guatemala almost perfectly round? Oh wait sorry haven’t heard about them? This question is principally aimed at those poor sods who suffered that horrendous tornado in Enterprise, Alabama; where I believe they lost the roof to their school - just imagine a telescopic school!!

What about people ? Is it possible you engineers and architects out there could design buildings that could adapt to bad weather such as this?

Surely the bottom-line is - if your homes and schools and office and maybe whole factories etc., aren’t on the SURFACE when one of these cyclonic events happens, then we can protect our buildings as apposed having to keep rebuilding them everytime a storm hits?

Now, I know a lot of you are concerned about the Mississippi tornadoes and all.

But how about we did a test here on R&S?

What if we were to get as many R&S ladies to post nudies of themselves for us?
How do we KNOW that Seattle won’t be blown away tomorrow in a massive twister afterward?

I was intrigued and worried what had happened overnight in north Queensland’s cyclone so I was looking through statistics and reading news reports to find that it had been severe. Somebody suggested that this was a misreading but the temperature gauge continued to read into the high thirties right up to one in the afternoon today where it mysteriously cut out (which supports the theory that it was a misreading) Nowhere else around it did it rise above 30C which to me seems odd though temperatures can vary greatly over small distances. If it wasn’t a misreading what weather phenomena caused it? A heat burst? The wind was from a warm direction and when you take into account that it gusted up to 202-5km/h it could have been heat burst. Please answer i find this very weird.

There’s a program @ my university where they give a MEMORIAL Loan to students who are in financial need & are receiving financial aid, & the money is deducted from my refund checks. But they told me that if I am in DIRE need, I have to write them a letter of being in extenuating circumstances, so I can get the money earlier. I’m on a fixed income, my electricity bill is high because I had to pay a deposit on it, & I’m low on food & clothing, & I need books & school supplies. & this type of loan is NOT credit-based. Sorry for the long story but here goes.
My boyfriend of 8 months and I just moved in together. I have known him for about 6 years; he is best friends with my sisters husband. I am a divorced mother of one. When we were dating and everything was great, he loves my daughter and she loves him. We get along great with each others families as well. He is an only child so very close to both his parents, and my family is military so we traveled a lot and all we had was each other so we are very close as well. After we moved in with him things seem to be going down hill. First it was he was mad at my daughter for getting two drops of pudding on the carpet. He didn’t yell at her but every time we get in an argument he brings that up. I don’t think it was a big deal because I cleaned it up with resolve, no harm no foul right? Then the chair she sits in at the kitchen table is dirty because she spills (she’s barley 4) I cleaned it with resolve as well. I have two cats and we get in arguments about them the most. He doesn’t like the fact that they get on the table. I never catch them on the table so I can punish them for it. He says he likes them 60% of the time, just not when they are bad. He calls them stupid all the time and I hate that and have told him so but he still continues. Yesterday we went through tropical storm Fay because we live in Florida. He got mad at me for not asking him before I invited my sister and her two kids to ride it out with us. I know I should have asked but at the time I didn’t think about it and didn’t think it was a big deal. She lives with my mom and dad and they both had to work so I didn’t want her to have to be home alone. He was mad because her kids (2 & 4) are loud and he isn’t used to that. We got into a huge argument about that and he said fine I will move in with my parents and you can buy the house. He says he feels he has no say in his own house. I hate that he holds that over my head and I told him that when he did it before. I know its not my house, I moved out of my apartment and spent all my money to move in with him, if we break up I have no where to go and that scares me the most. He knows I cant afford that house on my own, why would he do that? Then while my sister and kids were over, her son and my daughter broke the bi-fold closet doors in her room. He was really mad about that and said that is why he didn’t want them over because they are distructive. I told him I would fix the doors (there 20years old anyway) Then when I was in the living room with my sister he was in the doorway to our room giving we this sortof evil look doing the come here finger because he wanted to talk to me. He wanted to know when they were leaving because he wanted a quiet house and basically wanted me to kick them out in the middle of a tropical storm. He thinks it should bother me more when things break or get dirty in the house. I told him it does bother me but they are just kids, clean up after them and move on. Am I wrong in thinking that? I’ll admit it if I am I just don’t know what to do. I tell her to be careful and watch what she is doing, and she is getting better at it, but I make a mess when I eat sometimes too. He makes me feel like a child, I’m 26 years old and have lived on my own since I was 18, he is the one who just moved out of his parents house at 26. My husband and I broke up right after my daughter was born because he wasn’t ready to be a father. Hey! I just wanted to say that like there is an extra-tropical storm of the east coast of North Carolina and Virginia. I am not complaining and whining as a baby even though I am scared of this kind of weather but all that is going to happen at my house is wind and wind gusts up to 25 MPH and we have had that before, no big deal, on a normal day. There is or was (I do not know I checked in the morning, it might have changed) a coast flood advisory. Well, the thing is, I am not in a flood zone, almost 5 hours away from the ocean, and we never got a coastal flood advisory before when a tropical storm came. I wanted to know, what is a coastal flood advisory and why is the advisory on us? My other question is that there have been tornado warnings around North Carolina and South Carolina. I hear they were having strong or severe thunderstorms likely for today but for us its just rain the most 1/4 of an inch and like wind gusts up to 25 MPH (as I said above). Is it possible I will get a tornado warning or watch? It is suppose to just rain no thunderstorms. Sorry! This got longer than I was hoping for. Please answer!! This boat will never see saltwater, and the amp will be completely sheltered from splashes and the weather.

As if some kind of radiated pulse or modifier is aimed at water supply near storm to increase the storm development in a certain area.

I have noticed this and have copied several instances to my hard drive. Whenever I have seen these patterns - these storms became major disasters.

Could our Government have some kind of Weather Modification satellite in space? You know, some kind of microwave pulse or beam directed at nearby water supplies to warm up the water and creat more moisture/power in the storm.

I saw this during hurricane Katrina - A major glitch flashing right across the Infrared weather screen right befor ethe storm intensified.

And it is only visible on the Infrared screen

Deadly floods in Asia, a cyclone in the Middle ast, tornadoes in Brooklyn, more hurricanes & earthquakes, & extreme temperstures around the world (2.46 degrees F. increase)since January,’07 in Africa, Asia, Europe, & South America. Extreme weather forcasts to continue. What if all the nations only combat climate changes,etc. for their own nation instead of working together for the good of all humankind?

Instead of blaming the government, why don’t you get angry with all of the politicians that throw millions of dollars out the window while campaigning? Why don’t you get angry with a moron like Michael Vick who bankrolled illegal dogfighting? Why don’t you get angry with actors & actresses that do stupid stuff, then waste their money with fines, legal fees and court costs? There are so many wealthy people out there just throwing their money out the window…and you’re angry with the government??? They cannot control the weather. Yes, there were other measures that should have been taken and could have been taken, but weren’t. They r out all night & freeze! My neighbors used to bring them in but now they don’t! The water they have is frozen & they only get fed every other day! I feel so sorry 4 them but what can I do? We really don’t get along w/ them!! I’m afraid 2 call the shelter 2 have them investageted. I want 2 do it annynoisly but my hubby says no!! I don’t want them 2 freeze out there!! They r mother & daughter 6 yrs and 2 yrs!! Should I call the shelter & have them look into this or turn my back & hope they die peacefully which will break my heart? What should I do?
They look in good shape 4 pitt bulls. They r on oppsite sides of the yard. The dog houses r made of wood on 3 sides w/ the front open. They both have a rug on the ground next 2 the houses. My neighbors say that they r not pets only guard dogs 4 keep them safe. I have only seen them fed once (left overs) but my hubby says that the father feeds them everyday I just don’t c it! 4 the last week it has been between
9′ f & 29′ f ! Plus we have been having windchill factors of -10. When I walk my pup @ 3 am the black & white (mother dog) 1 is lying on the side of her house, the brown laying next 2 the house on a rug that is just a little bigger than her! I noticed this last week & asked hubby who said 2 mind my own business! I can’t any more. Their feed & water bowls r metal mixing bowls or metal pots! They r also on very short leashes & @ 1st I thought they couldn’t get into their houses but I sw them walking around 2 day so that can’t b the case!
I have only seen my neighbors bring in the dogs when they broke their chains that r tied around a tree. I don’t even think they have collars (I’ve never seen them) I think they r tied up w/ the chains that r tied 2 the trees!!
I e-mailed my local animal shelter & told them. I only gave my e-mail address & asked them NOT to tell who reported them!! I gave the address as well as directions & told them what I saw!! I hope 2 hear something soon!!

ENOUGH of Hurricane Katrina. YES it was horrible & sad . SO was 9/11. Life goes on! Ever since Katrina every1 scared it’s "going to happen again". Does any1 hate how the media scares us. I live in Houston so I have an idea of what Hurricanes are too! I am so sick of hearing about a storm off the coast of AFRICA & people in Houston making evac. plans & stokcing up on supplies. I know you can’t be too careful but some ppl take it too far don’t you think?

I have a few questions, I live in the upper-west section of Houston, TX (Harris County for those familar with the area) & Hurricane Ike is expected to make landfall within the next few days, & I have a few questions.

1. What supplies should we buy?

2. Should we evacuate (By we, I mean my mother, sister, age 9, and two dogs) to Baton Rouge, LA, which is where all of my family lives.

3. We live in a two story home, which floor is safer?

4. What are the best non perishable foods?

5. My school is a mainly outdoors campus, with portable buildings, any chance of them blowing away? With expected 130 - 140 mph winds, I would suspect so, but I am no expert.

A certain individual asked a "question" the other day about FSU grad student Ryan Maue’s Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE) data. He asked for an explanation why Maue’s data is at a 30 year low while hurricane intensity is supposed to be increasing.

I had previously asked a question about this, because Maue’s data contradicts NOAA’s data. I explained in my answer the discrepancy, and that Maue has written a paper attempting to reconcile the differences between his and NOAA’s ACE data, but it hasn’t yet been published. In other words, the individual’s question can’t be answered until this paper is published.

The individual in question said I have "an excuse for everything" and was "attacking the author [Maue]", then chose a "best answer" which didn’t really answer the question, provided zero scientific evidence, and was really nothing more than an ad hominem attack against "alarmists".

Clearly no matter what the explanation was, this individual was going to blindly accept Maue’s data because it showed him what he wanted to see - an apparent contradiction with AGW.

I know certain people object to the term "denier", but how else would you define this kind of behavior other than denial?
