Here is storm footage from around Northern Middlesex County as Hurricane Irene approached the Garden State on Saturday, August 27th. The storm was a minimal Category One storm with 80 mile per hour winds, but it dumped almost 2.5 inches on South Plainfield in eight hours. It also brought significant storm surge into Raritan Bay at South Amboy.

BELGIUM - The music festival Pukkelpop in Kiewit (Hasselt) in Limburg province has been hit by a very heavy weather storm yesterday evening. The roof of a tent and a couple of other constructions collapsed and a few trees were uprooted. 5 festival-goers were killed, and the 3-day festival, which would have run until Sunday August 21, has been completely cancelled.

A tribute to Katrina Animal Rescue….. Especially those volunteering at Camp Katrina, located in Tylertown, MS. and those working at the Winn Dixie in downtown New Orleans. The pictures of the dogs in the water came from various associated press releases after the hurricane. Those pictures were what made me decide to head down to help. Myself, two other technicians and a veterinarian from where I work all headed down, not knowing what we’d find. We arrived just as the camp was getting started. We were the first medical team in the camp. There were people from all walks of life, all races, all religion, all political views. It didn’t matter…we were all there for one goal: To rescue and save the animals who fell victim to Hurricane Katrina. The other pictures in the clip were taken by various volunteers in the camp: Lisa & Tammy, Chuck, Carebear, Gonzo, Kimmy and myself. From 230 miles above the Earth, cameras on the International Space Station captured new views of powerful Hurricane Irene as it churned over the Bahamas at 3:10 pm EDT on August 24, 2011. Irene is moving to the northwest as a Category 3 hurricane, packing winds of 120 miles an hour. Irene is expected to strengthen to a Category 4 storm as it heads toward the Outer Banks of North Carolina, the Eastern Seaboard and the middle Atlantic and New England states.

i live in chesterfield, va and i have trees around my area. i realized that i am asking a dumb question. now this is going to be my first time i have been through a hurricane. what are the chances of trees hitting my apartment. since this is a weird week. earthquake and strange weather on the same day but hypothetically speaking what if my apartment is not boarded up including the other apartment buildings. is it really important to board up the windows. i live in sunrise apt and some ppl didnt board up their building. but what do i need to do. do i need to turn off my utilities or wat. i got first aid kit, food, water, batteries and flash lights. im i missing something. plz answer i kind of scared sh*tless and am i prepared. my area under tropical storm warning and flood watch and i live in theres 3 levels on my apartment. bottom MIDDLE and top. i live in the middle part. is my family prepared. first hurricane but many earthquakes and aftershocks. plz serious answers. any bs answers will be reported. like i said serious answers only. and what is being under a hurricane like.
