During a hurricane keeps your windows open or closed?

I’ve often wondered about this. If I lived in the Gulf Coast region or the Outer Banks of NC, I think I would want to have a ready supply of plywood pre-cut, maybe have the holes already drilled, etc. so all that would be needed to do is install it and get out of town. Yet, everytime a hurricane approaches they talk about shortages of plywood. Is there a practical reason people don’t do this that I’m not aware of?

I’ve been keeping track of the hurricane for the past few days now, and each day the predictions keep going more east every day, so I’m wondering what the chances are of it still hitting South Florida? The paths on NOAA are JUST predictions, and are changing quite often. I live in the Fort Lauderdale area so I’m curious. I know we’ll get some effects of it most likely even if it doesn’t hit us tho.

Ok, Well..
We were supposed to get a hurricane and now It changed to a tropical storm watch.. Do you think the tropical storm will stay or will the hurricane thing come back?? If not how bad do you think that the tropical storm will be?
Also, do sirens go off if there is supposed to be a hurricane or tropical storm? Just wondering.. Thanks!!
Ps. I live in Maryland.. :D

When are people going to learn that when you are told to evacuate due to severe weather such as a hurricane, that you should do just that? It is all very sad but deaths could have been avoided. I know there are those "FEW" exceptions. Don’t forget that there where programs and shelters ready with more experienced people than with Katrina.

What do you think?
Leave or don’t leave?
