This is a sample of my Hurricane Wilma storm chase video. The footage was taken during the peak of the storm on the Southwest Florida coast in Belle Meade, near Marco Island. Peak winds occur after the lull, associated with the passage of the storm’s eye, and are near 100mph with gusts to 120mph.

www.UltimateChase.com Exclusive video shot by Mike Theiss from ground zero of Hurricane Katrina’s historic 28 foot storm surge that ripped through Gulfport, Mississippi on August 29th, 2005. This video has a time stamp to give a complete and accurate timeline from the Holiday Inn beachfront hotel located directly on the beach in Gulfport. Also, included are shots from the Theiss-Device which is a camera housing designed by Mike to be placed in a place that would be too dangerous from any human to survive. This 13 minute video will give you a sense of just how bad Katrina was on the Gulf Coast without actually putting you in harms way !!! To see the entire version of this video about 2 hours in duration please purchase the DVD “Battle at the Beachfront”. http Jim Reed and Mike Theiss hope this documentation helps enforce a sense of storm awareness and a respect for the power of mother nature. When local officials ask you to evacuate just think of this video and ask yourself do you want to risk being put in a situation like this ?

I’d like to go down there to lend a hand, but would I be one of thousands and thousands of volunteers wandering about without something to do? Or should I organize a donation drive to send "hurricane" supplies? But to whom should I send it to? Maybe the donation to the Red Cross IS the best idea after all. Phooey. There has GOT to be something I can do!

Isn’t this foolhardy as there is so many threats of violence in the middle east.

Won’t prices double or triple should another hurricane hit the gulf coast, and our reserves are low? Remember 2005?

What will happen to our economy if we actually run out of oil???

NO TO DIPPING IN TO THE RESERVES!!!

Turn into a hurricane and hit us hard. I hope not, but just in case I’m going out for supplies today. Later on in the week will be hectic.

The windows are in need of upgrading to come up to codes for hurricane winds. The window dealer told me that I am not able to recieve the tax rebate of ,500. If I install new windows what can I write off? Thanks

TornadoVideos.net storm chasers Reed Timmer and Joel Taylor traveled to Jamaica on Saturday, August 18, 2007 with the goal of intercepting the eye of Hurricane Dean, a powerful category 4-5 storm! This footage features TornadoVideos.net storm chasers documenting hurricane-force winds and massive waves from the north shore of Jamaica. Since the hurricane wobbled south less than 18 hours before landfall, the brunt of Dean remained just off-shore. Check out TornadoVideos.net for insane tornado footage, breaking news blog, and our live GPS tracker!

Hurricane Ivan was a classic, long-lived Cape Verde hurricane that reached Category 5 strength three times during its lifespan. Ivan caused tremendous damage as it crossed Grenada, the Cayman Islands and made landfall near the Alabama/Florida border. Maximum sustained winds at landfall in the US are estimated at 120mph with gusts to 140mph, Category Three intensity. At landfall, the storm’s minimum central pressure was 946mb (27.94in). This video also includes some behind-the-scenes footage from the National Hurricane Center including clips of my good friends and hurricane forecasters, Lixion Avila, Jack Beven, Max Mayfield (the center’s director at that time)… as well as another good friend, Monroe County ex-Civil Defense Director Billy Wagner. Also in the background is Florida Governor, Charlie Crist.

This is footage taken at the National Hurricane Center (then located in Coral Gables, Florida) on the morning of July 23, 1985 as Tropical Storm Bob was impacting South Florida. Neil Frank, director of the Hurricane Center at the time, can be heard (and seen) talking on the phone to local government officials. Storm chaser Jim Leonard is also in the background.

Hurricane Charley Video. Friday the 13th, August 2004. Aftermath Video of Category 4 Hurricane Charley in Punta Gorda Florida. Part 8 of 9. This is part 2 of 3 of the aftermath footage from around Punta Gorda showing the destruction around the city.

Something I’ve noticed about myself is I get an adrenaline rush when something catastrophic happens. I felt like bouncing off the walls on 9/11. I felt excited during the tsunami or in the aftermath of hurricane katrina. I’ve had daydreams of life during a nuclear war, somehow imagining life would be more meaningful in such a situation. Every time we have a thunder storm or major winds I sit at the window hoping it gets worse. I think if I ever saw a tornado in real life I’d drive towards it and am not sure when common sense would take over. What do you think about this adrenaline rush I seem to get in the face of destruction?
It is possible I’m a christian? hehe. No, actually I’m an atheist that doesn’t believe in the afterlife, although I can see how you’d get that impression.
Woah Kobain. There is a difference between enjoying conflict and not doing anything about suffering. I volunteer once a week at a homeless soup kitchen and raise 300 dollars for abused women and children every year.

I recently moved to The Woodlands, TX. With hurricane Ike on its way I’m just curious about what I should do to prepare. I already went to the grocery store and stocked up on water, canned foods, batteries, etc. I also got out some camping supplies like flashlights, propane stove, ice chest, first aid kits. I put all of our patio furniture inside the garage. Since my garage is full of moving boxes, i parked my cars in a line against my house so if a tree falls the house blocks it from hitting the cars. Any other suggestions?

Hurricane Footage; Strong Winds, Floods, Big Waves, Water and Wind Damage. A tropical cyclone is a storm system characterized by a large low-pressure center and numerous thunderstorms that produce strong winds and heavy rain. Tropical cyclones strengthen when water evaporated from the ocean is released as the saturated air rises, resulting in condensation of water vapor contained in the moist air. They are fueled by a different heat mechanism than other cyclonic windstorms such as nor’easters, European windstorms, and polar lows. The characteristic that separates tropical cyclones from other cyclonic systems is that any height in the atmosphere, the center of a tropical cyclone will be warmer than its surrounds; a phenomenon called “warm core” storm systems. The term “tropical” refers to both the geographic origin of these systems, which form almost exclusively in tropical regions of the globe, and their formation in maritime tropical air masses. The term “cyclone” refers to such storms’ cyclonic nature, with counterclockwise rotation in the Northern Hemisphere and clockwise rotation in the Southern Hemisphere. The opposite direction of spin is a result of the Coriolis force. Depending on its location and strength, a tropical cyclone is referred to by names such as hurricane, typhoon, tropical storm, cyclonic storm, tropical depression, and simply cyclone. While tropical cyclones can produce extremely powerful winds and torrential rain, they are also able to produce high
