so Ike is going to hit sw florida on wednesday,… can i get insurance on monday?… what do i have to do to get it?

Why am I being taxed this just because I buy car insurance?

Isn’t this a Big crock of Crap?

I’d like to know how much you think homeowners insurance would be on a 2,000 sq. ft. home, west of I 95?

It would be a newer home, built 2003 and worth in the market of 5,000.

Just a ballpark figure will do. We’re relocating but not ready to contact a broker yet.

P.S……Let me know how much you pay even if the house is worth slightly less or more than the one we’re thinking of.

im considering moving toward that area and buying a condo or house. Anyone got any insurance info?

i recieved insurance money to fix my home but i did the work. i heard the materials would be tax deductible. i have saved my reciepts just in case.

email and phone numbers for immediate family to notify them you survived

I work in the real estate industry and am curious if the homeowners who lost their homes to Hurricane Katrina ever got reimbursed by their property insurance companies. Or, due to the enoromous cost, did the insurance companies default out of self preservation? It seems to me that those homeowners who thought their home equity was safe in their homes experienced the biggest financial loss.

Should the government rebuild it for me? More specifically, who is responsible for the delays in the aftermath of Katrina, insurance companies, the federal/state/city governments, the individuals who had no protection, or some combination?

My car was on my drive way, and the fence smashed into it. in a since, if a car hit my car they have to pay, is the same concept done with a house insurance?

I live in Broward County , and have paid for my house. My hurricane insurance is really killing me. I live in Coral Springs , 25 miles from sea beach and have a concrete house that sustained Katrina and Wilma without any damage. Should I cancel the Flood and Hurricane portion of my insurance.? How common is that ?

I live in Broward County , and have paid for my house. I live 25 Miles away from Sea in a concrete house and was thinking if I can drop my hurricane coverage between Jan and July when there are no hurricanes. Can anybody advise me if this is possible and reccomendable ?

I have a few questions, I haven’t been through a hurricane since hurricane Andrew ( I was a little kid) and dont remember what needs to be done

I live in an apartment in Fayetteville,NC ..and I have a 7wk old baby
Is their an eligibility for staying at ’safe places’ ?
If so ,what are they and what do I need to bring ? What can’t I bring?
What to do with my cat?

I have renters insurance, but how can I protect my apartment from
damage (we aren’t allowed to penetrate any siding or door frames)\

Sorry about all the questions…I am having a hard time finding answers
and I am a little scared that I won’t know what to do.

Please help me understand:

Out here in CA a homeowner policy does not cover earthquake damage, unless the owner opts for a veeeeeery expensive earthquake provision that has a huge (like k) deductible.

Yet in FL, LA, AL, TX and MS hurricane insurance is a covered provision — and home insurance is relatively cheap — although portions of these states are now routinely getting hammered by devastating hurricanes and it's happening more and more frequently?

I'm curious because it's not the local gulf-state population that pays for all the reconstruction — it's every homeowner who carries a policy with that company no matter where in the USA they are actually located.

I live near the ocean and my insurance company wants me to have "Pre-drilled" plywood for protection against hurricanes. has anyone done this before in CT?

So let’s say I can’t get/afford flood or hurricane insurance. My house would still be covered in case of a fire. So if my house got flooded by a hurricane, but it was on fire too, would I get paid out?

I will be relocating to a new house along A1A in Palm Beach County, Florida and would like to buy Hurricane Insurance. Hurricane Insurance, Wind, Flood etc. etc. Are there any websites that tell me more? What will it cover? If you have an oceanfront house, for example, and a hurricane wipes the LAND out into the ocean - is there ANY kind of insurance that covers the cost of the land and the house? What is this kind of insurance called? Is there a list of reputable hurricane insurance companies?

Thanks!

The place got ripped up badly and flooded in 1999's hurricane Floyd but I understand that to have been a rare occurrence of 2 hurricanes back to back. Just wondering if I would want to invest there, and whether flood insurance would be highly recommended.

I recently bought an 08 Envoy on 8/29/08. Called Allstate to remove coverage from old car to new truck. They stated that they are on some type of ban that took effect on 8/28/08 @ 10:30am and couldn’t add my truck until hurricane passes and the ban is lifted. Is this for all insurance companies in the state of Louisiana for purchases like car, home, boat etc. Are car dealerships (in Louisiana) aware of this hurricane ban?

The military paid for my losses on a depreciated schedule then sent me a 1099-misc with the insurance amount paid, on line 7. I thought section 7 was reserved for non-employee compensation, i.e. goverment contractors. Should this have been reported to the IRS on a 1099-misc? Isn't this considered a casualty loss? I didn't think that this payout was a taxable item because we have to replace all items that were lost, also we are not in a better position prior to the hurricane, if anything, WORSE!

We got hit by hurricane Rita almost 2 years ago and we still have a blue tarp on our roof. We are renting and the owner of the house didn't have insurance on the house so we stll have a blue tarp covering it. I'm worried about this years hurricane season. I can't afford to move and I'm trying my best to safe up to get it fixed but in the meantime, how do I keep my house safe? No jokes please. I'm still trying to get mold spores out of the house.
Sorry to hear about all of that. FEMA said we had significant damage but said they couldn't help us because I forgot to include my middle name when I signed my name during the inspection of my house. They caontacted me 8 months after the hurricane, after is started raining in our house and leaks were everywhere and then they mentioned they could have helped us but I left out my middle name on my signature. I had to show proof who I was about 3 times and finally I got it straight but then I recieved a letter in the mail from FEMA saying I missed the deadline and they couldn't help us fix the roof. So now I am saving up to have it fixed.

I live in the Galveston Texas area.I filed a claim with my insurance company from the damage caused by Hurricane Ike. My homeowners insurance is not paying anything at all. Texas Wind Insurance Association is paying only for damage caused to the house itself, they are not covering my contents. Is there any insurance I could have purchased to cover my contents?

Okay so I was wondering about what they do about cruises during a hurricane. Do they cancel the trip? I would think but do you need the cruise insurance to guarantee that you get your money back? I’ve always wondered about it when I travel.

I live in south florida and I need to have ALL window openings protected in case of a hurricane, which includes skylights (or I dont get my insurance premium reduced). I am getting shutters for all my other windows and sliding doors, What can I do with my skylights? I doubt, although I am unsure, that they are impact glass currently. Help!
