Monday was a classic storm chasing day in south central Nebraska as multiple tornadoes hit Hamilton and York counties. We have put together this compilation video from several of our StormChasingVideo.com freelance chasers to show the power and the beauty of the violent tornadoes in Nebraska on Monday. In the first part of the video was shot by Meteorologist Brandon Ivey who is with the TIV or Tornado Intercept Vehicle for Discovery Channels TV show “Storm Chasers”. The video shows some extreme close up tornado footage including one scene where a train is hit by the tornado. The tornado then moves across a road about a quarter mile in front of them while picking up and destroying buildings and power lines in its path. The tornado moved off into a farm field as the TIV crew continued to keep with the storm At one minute and thirty six second into the video, it show the footage from Eric Treece who caught the Bradshaw,NE tornado from near the beginning of its life cycle and continued to chase it until it roped-out or dissipated. The footage by Eric Treece shows a classic tornado that is back lit by as it rips up a farm field. At one point it passes right behind a farm but does not destroy the buildings. Eric keeps on chasing the tornado after it passed by his location until it dissipated. Tony Laubach continues the video at the two minute and fifty four second mark of the video with the tornadoes from Pleasanton, NE. Tony’s video starts with amazing up close footage of a

The way I understand it, the tether law prohibits any dog from being tethered for more than 4 or 5 hours at any time. This seems unreasonable to me for two reasons. First, if someone is at work, then they are unable to leave their dog outside during the day, where it can go if it needs to. Second, there are people who have tethers on their dogs that are 15 feet long or so, adequate shelter, food and water. This seems better to me than having a dog locked up in a 4′x8′ kennel. Not allowing tethers at all doesn’t seem like it would solve the problem of irresponsible people who are still going to tether their dogs and not provide for them.
About the cars, I understand that people are not allowed to leave dogs in a car if it is either too hot or too cold. Too hot, I completely understand. But who determines what is too cold? My dogs are used to cold weather, and are better off in a sheltered car than out in the cold that they are completely used to. (I have high energy dogs).
As I pointed out, I am refering to people who tether their dogs outside, for example, while they are at work and then bring them inside when they get home. While I do understand what you are saying about the restraint without visual signs of it, the fact is it still allows a dog much more room to move around than being in a kennel. Some people are at work too long to leave their dogs inside. Obviously, a big yard in the country is ideal, but how many people in California have THAT luxury?

I have not spent much time in California, but I have never seen any weather that is cold enough to freeze a dog. I am from Nebraska, and it is rarely cold enough even here to freeze a dog that is used to cold weather.

I guess it all boils down to the fact that more and more restrictions seem to be placed on pet owners. The respnsible owners that are following the laws are not the problem. It is the ones that didn’t follow the laws before and aren’t going to now.

You all should be aware of hurricane preparations, but in case you need a refresher course: We’re about to enter the hurricane season. Any minute now, you’re going to turn on the TV and see a weather person pointing to some radar blob out in the Atlantic Ocean and making two basic meteorological points.

There is no need to panic.
We could all be killed.
Yes, hurricane season is an exciting time to be in Florida. If you’re new to the area, you’re probably wondering what you need to do to prepare for the possibility that we’ll get hit by "the big one."

Based on our insurance industry experiences, we recommend that you follow this simple three-step hurricane preparedness plan:

STEP 1: Buy enough food and bottled water to last your family for at least three days.

STEP 2: Put these supplies into your car.

STEP 3: Drive to Nebraska and remain there until Halloween.

Unfortunately, statistics show that most people will not follow this sensible plan. Most people will foolishly stay here in the coastal states. So, start with step one.

Does this type of feaure have a more specific name?

I have lived in Nebraska all of my life & want to move to Florida b/c i hate it here! I am a single, 25 yr. old female who wants to live somewhere that’s always warm & that has more diversity. I have a Spanish/Sociology degree (currently am a Spanish Translator) & would love to live somewhere where I could utilize my Spanish skills more. My parents are concerned about my safety, the hurricanes and the high cost of living. Where would be the best place for me to move considering my situation?

This was taken on the west side of Aurora, NE in the evening of June 17, 2009. I’m amazed at these wonders and love the excitement of seeking out a new adventure. This was definitely an adventure. I’m not a professional storm chaser, nor do I claim to know everything about tornados, so when listening to the audio you are hearing the …
