Recently in my town there was a tornado that did a lot of damage to my neighborhood. My garage was destroyed, and it and some other debris smashed my car entirely. It was the talk of the small town, and everyone was riding by taking pictures. The first night I was trying to get something out of my car and a reporter tried snapping photos of me. I asked him to not put my picture because I was still very upset about what had happened. He said that he wouldnt. Well, the next two days I made the front page of the paper with the picture he took. Is that illegal? I know there is freedom of press, but I specifically asked him not to…….

Last year, a hurricane was experience by my family and me for the first time. It was Hurricane Ellen, and much damage to our property and neighborhood was caused by its fierce winds of 200 miles per hour and its heavy rains. The old oak tree in our backyard was uprooted and hurled across the roof of our house, creating a large hole thought which the rain poured in. Our living room was flooded by the water, which rose to a height of three feet. When we began to think that the worst of the storm was over, we heard a loud crash and looked out the window to see that our car had been hit by our neighbor’s fallen tree, caving in the roof and breaking all the windows. Having recently moved to the East Coast from North Dakorta, we thought that a hurricane was little more than a thunderstorm. Next time, when people in our area are advised to evacuate before a hurricane comes, I’m sure our family will be the first to leave.

Today is the 3rd anniversary of hurricane katrina. Since katrina I’ve been living in new york during summer time i go back to visit and last year and the year before on the anniversary of katrina august 29. I never cry or anything or show emotion and i never noticed untill Today i actually cried. It was 5am dis morning when I began to cry and on aug.29.05 at 5am My mom called me into her room becuz katrina was hitting. Today i woke up at 10 am, which is 9am downsouth and i remembered every thing that happened within that same our on aug.29.05 and I never did this before last year or last year before. I started to cry really really hard at 5am this morning, I pretended that I was talking to someone telling them the ENTIRE ENTIRE story. It was like a movie in my mind things that i never knew i still remembered came back in my mind. There was 12feet of water downstairs in my house we floated through on doors and got our neighbors the more we walked to the bridge the less the water was deep and we floated and floated untill we was able to walk through as soon as the water hit below my knees then to my ankles Remebering that this morning I started to cry and thanked God we made it. It was tough looking down my neighborhood in the window of myhouse the playground etc. that was once there was nothing but water!! I went crazy this morning. Tom. aug.30. is when i actually left my house in the 12 feet of water. Last year and the last year b4 i was in new orleans and I felt good cuz this is my home. But why did it hit me so hard This morning, today. Is it becuz Im not in new orleans now on this day??

As many of you already know, the weather here in NYC is getting dangerously cold, the past few days.
I know there are homeless shelters, but there are many who don’t go there. I know about 3 homeless guys in my neighborhood alone, who are ALWAYS outside (even in the 18 degrees Fahrenheit weather). I know another homeless guy near my job, but i think he’s mentally ill, I still don’t understand how he can manage the FREEZING weather while pushing his shopping cart back and forth!??

I remember about 2 years ago, a homeless guy got drunk and died in the cold. Why would today’s homeless take that risk?

I live in a location without municipal water supply. I could buy a natural gas generator, and hire an electrician to connect it to my breaker box, but I believe there is a way to connect solar panels to a battery system to provide enough power for my 220 volts submerged pump. I have 2 horses, 24 chickens, 2 dogs, 4 cats, 3 parakeets, and 3 people that need water in the event of a hurricane, national power grid attack, etc. There are solar powered generators advertised, but they are not powerful enough for 220. Also, my whole neighborhood of over 200 homes all lives off their own water wells, and we all suffered during hurricane Ike: 10 days without a water supply.

I think it’s the same cat that’s been around my neighborhood since fall and no one helped it. It’s 14 degrees outside and I would bring it inside but I’m too afraid to hold it because it might bite. If I call the police will they come or do I have to call an animal shelter? I dont want it to stay outside in this weather I feel bad.

hello! i have a speedstream 4100 and another wireless oldie modem from ATT, The 4100 uses 12v and the 2wire uses 6v.

Both of them stopped working, none of them are turning on what should I do? I need to have my internet connection because the hurricane is coming!!

please help meeee my neighbor has an extra speedstream 4100, which is exactly the same but he doesnt have the power supply.

What should I do ??? will my power supply work? is it dead??(my power supply??)

please helpppp meeeeeee by the way im typing from the wifi networking from my neighborhood and its not that good. I want a secure internet connection during the hurricane.
SORRY ABOUT THE TITLE OF MY QUESTION , IS DSL ! NOT DSK.

My 6 year old cat is indoor/outdoor. She has never roamed off before. I have never seen her go far, only a few houses down. She comes home 2-3 times a day to eat and comes home to sleep. She has a colar/name tag. Today is the forth day she is missing in cold and rainy weather.

I think the worst part is not knowing what happened to her. Is she dead? Or alive? I know she has not been run over by a car because her dead body would be on the road and we would get a phone call if her body was picked up. It saddens me that I have no idea where she is, because if someone has her I think they would have called by now.

Sigh…..I would feel bad if she doesn’t come back and I didn’t do all I can do to find her! I have looked around my neighborhood and posted fliers. I have also called the animal shelter. It worries me, today I have seen a small flock of crows fly by. I was outside and followed them. They seemed to fly into a house a few houses down from mine. I will knock on there door to see if they have seen my lost cat.

Is posting fliers and calling the animal shelter about all I can do?
Have you ever lost a pet before? If so, did you find him/her?

A couple of months ago a hurricane passed through Texas and wiped out the neighborhood’s power supply for a couple days. There was an Restaurant opened serving hot food and they sold rice, chicken wings, and other hot foods double their menu prices!!!!!! There prices were so high i couldn’t afford it. Can i sue them for price gouging for making me not being able to purchase the food?

My kittens must stay outside because we are trying to sell our house and my parents won’t let them stay in.Is there something I can buy that is cheap, or something I can do at home, to allow the mother cat to get out and come in, but keep the kittens from leaving? And also keep out wild animals and dogs from around the neighborhood?I have to keep them close to the woods for shade(it’s way too hot and they start panting if they are anywhere else besides te woods) I have a shelter for them(An animal crate with a pillow, and a door that the mother cat can push open and a bungee cord on it pulls the door slowly closed a lil [but still is open a crack] and a tarp is over it for weather, and it is raised up on two blocks but I still feel like they are not safe..)I live in a small home, all carpet, no basement or garage, or shed, and I cant put them on the porch cuz of my aggressive dog.I am not givin them to a sheltIer. (They are half-persians)I just need to make them a living space! But how?
And I am 14 years of age!! So I can’t "GET A JOB!!!!!!!!!"
I am planning to raise the cats, and I will not be moving out for a while. They are half Persians and I am goin to take good care of them and my parents love um too, but they just cant come inside at this time. *its too hard to explain* I need to build them a TEMPERARY place they can stay with their mother until they are old enough to be given away or sold. PLEASE NO MORE ANSWERS ABOUT TAKING THEM TO A SHELTER!!! The woods are not a lot of woods, only a few trees with a few squirrels and raccoons, and they are on the edge of the woods, not in them, I just need info on how to BUILD a SAFE PLACE! Please??!? Thank You! :) For all the IDIOTS out there answering this question….. : I AM GIVING THEM AWAY AND PEOPLE CAN GIVE THEN THE HEALTH THEY NEED WHEN TYE GET THEM! I am not giving them to a shelter becuz cats that they do not get rid of, u know what they do???? THEY KILL THEM!!!! N dont tell me they dont becuz I used to volunteer at one around here…. N I am not taking tose chances with my kittens!! I want to raise them and give them away to people I know will take care of them! Is that THIS hard to understand?????? OMG! The Question I Am Asking is: Please tell me how to make a shelter for my cat and her kittens. That is ALL want to know! And I do give a d***, 3cats, that’s why I’m taking it into my own hands. The shelters aroun here just don’t care… thye just want to get rid of them. If you lived around ere, you would see wut I mean… And thank you for those who arent half-retarded and gave me some really good ideas! :)

I am trying to find pictures or videos from the tornado that ripped through Cobby County Georgia on March 29, 1991. My neighborhood specifically, was Wood Mill subdivision on Hurt Rd. in Powder Springs Ga. I've tried searching archives and stuff like that, but since the internet was just introduced in the early 90s there aren't any photos uploaded. :(
