Thoughts please??

I live just outside of NYC. A group of friends and I had decided several weeks back to all get together this weekend at a rental home in CT (Windham County). The plan was to drive the 3 hours there this evening (Friday) after work and come home Sunday. I know Irene’s path and intensity keeps changing but I can’t decide if I should go or not, and I want to hear others’ opinions…

Some factors:
- I haven’t seen these friends in a long time, and will likely not be able to see them again in a long time
- The shortest route home takes 3 hours and would be on I-95, which is rather close to the projected center of the storm
- I could take an alternate route which brings me farther inland to a Tropical Storm Watch Zone (rather than a Hurricane Zone), but this would take 5 hours and still likely be bad weather
- I could drive up tonight (3 hours) and leave tomorrow afternoon and be home before the worst of the storm (but then is all the driving worth it?)
- My friends are all still going and seeing tomorrow if it changes and whether its safe to stay or if they should leave early….

Thoughts? Thanks! and be nice please!

Oh, also, I just got the oil changed and everything else all checked so the car can handle rain
Whoops! Forgot something important:

This Monday is my first day at a new job, so I can’t really afford to get stranded somewhere. I definitely have to come home at least by Sunday…

Where were you in that rain this morning. I got bathe walking in a fun walk in Rendezvous and nearly loss my balance coming down the hill. When we got to the Brown Beach there was thunder and lightning and the sea was rough.
We like we have some real advisers on weather systems on here…thanks to you Michael and Geo.

The sun was ripe and tired in its final stage and it shimmered gently, low and dim, as if it were stepping aside and preparing to give the other stars a chance to shine. A light wind blew. There was warmth in each breeze, and between each waft it seemed as if the air had eternally been perfectly still. The harsh freeze of the previous year and the deluge which had followed seemed now to have been a bad dream. Through the passing of the year the weather had changed and now, in August, the elements were welcomed by the people. The wind revived the weary workers, like a fan cooling an overheating engine and the rain, when it seldom arrived, was welcomed like a deceiving and deceitfully endearing friend. The showers came in saccharine bursts, and their vital sweetness was felt by all. The crops, the trees, the birds and every animal instinctively drenched themselves gleefully. The work-weary men and women dropped their hoes and spades, their washboards and their churns and they sheltered.

A tornado has leveled parts of Joplin Missouri. 117 deaths confirmed so far. Joplin was a town of 50000 people.

Last year, a hurricane was experience by my family and me for the first time. It was Hurricane Ellen, and much damage to our property and neighborhood was caused by its fierce winds of 200 miles per hour and its heavy rains. The old oak tree in our backyard was uprooted and hurled across the roof of our house, creating a large hole thought which the rain poured in. Our living room was flooded by the water, which rose to a height of three feet. When we began to think that the worst of the storm was over, we heard a loud crash and looked out the window to see that our car had been hit by our neighbor’s fallen tree, caving in the roof and breaking all the windows. Having recently moved to the East Coast from North Dakorta, we thought that a hurricane was little more than a thunderstorm. Next time, when people in our area are advised to evacuate before a hurricane comes, I’m sure our family will be the first to leave.

This has been bugging me for quite a while now. Why is it that every photograph of a hurricane is taken by satellite, rather than from ground view? And how come people never see the actual funnel cloud? Is it too far away? Every time I google image search for a hurricane, I get either satellite photos of a cyclone or pictures of rain and wind blowing things away. No funnel cloud.

Does the actual funnel cloud reach land and cause damage like tornadoes do?

Well, my internet is being wierd. D;
I try to play an online game, or watch a video or just search the web…and almost every two minutes i get disconnected. I dont understand, because my signal is still great. Even though my internet doesnt respond and has to end the program, my signal stays strong.

This is really frustrating trying to play an mmorpg when you get dced every 2 mins. If anyone knows something I could do to stop it, that’d be great.

Btw…I’m using Windows XP and I’m using wireless high speed internet. and firefox. Could it be the weather or something? I had a storm/tiny hurricane earlier this week, but i only got rain and wind, nothing too bad. please help me. x_______x

I am a person that really enjoyed the rain and gloomy weather, for example I work outside and there was a day that I was cleaning up trash while everyone else was running for shelter. Some people look at me like I there is something wrong with me. But how most people enjoy the sun, I can’t stand it. I always feel happier and more relaxed when its storming and raining. Does anyone else feel this way?

Is it a tornado, hurricane, flood, tsunami, what?? It can be anything weather-related. Mine was tornado. I heard wind, thunder and obviously rain. I looked out my window and all I could see was dust and dirt and plants, like I was buried underground…freaky… after the storm, it was gold outside… I’m serious…. gold…

The Elie, Manitoba Tornado was an F5 tornado that struck the town of Elie, Manitoba on June 22, 2007. While several houses were leveled, no one was injured or killed by the tornado. Me and Tara were driving on the trans-canada right into the the thing, crazy kids, we drove past it about 100 metres away this is when the gap between the approach and the crossing occurs, the audio would not transfer from my Lg chocolate phone to my Macbook pro. There are a few times where we are like its coming towards us go go go, and another time like wow its getting huge. The ground was shaking so we peaced out pretty quick, Pretty sick experience!!! Tara was driving and I was filming from my phone. Just recently repaired my damaged phone to get the footage back and to share with all

What do dog owners do in the snow and cold or rain when their dog has to go potty? I don’t want everything wet and paws all dirty. I would like to build some sort of enclosure on our deck to make life easier for him, and yes us. Also, doesn’t dog urine and feces wreck your lawn? I tried the UGODog(inside potty system) but I didn’t think it was sanitary for my family- even though he did use it 90%. I do want him to go outside, but any ideas to make it more pleasurable during Minnesotas weather?
We wouldn’t have him pee/poop on our deck; just needing some sort of shelter ideas
