Brian Osburn, an XtremeTeam Member of XtremeHurricanes.com, has filmed what is arguably the best hurricane footage on YouTube. Hurricane Dolly shocked forecasters and all of South Texas when it came ashore and released enormous amounts of energy upon South Padre Island on July 23rd, 2008. The news crews were too scared to go out and give you the complete story on this viscious storm, but thanks to this video, not only will you learn the truth about this storm, but you will also experience first hand just how powerful an eyewall of a hurricane can be. So…you think you want to be in a hurricane? Think again. And after you watch it, you be the judge. Was this a Cat II storm as the news and weather services reported, or did part of it become a Cat III storm that put many thousands of people packed on a barrier island at high risk of severe injury or even death? Leave a comment and tell everyone what you think! Oh…and as always…enjoy!

This is raw video from David Reimer shot just south of downtown Oklahoma City on the now infamous May 10, 2010. Sirens were activated just after 4:45 PM CDT when the supercell that would go on to produce several strong tornadoes, including the Moore EF4, first became tornado warned just southwest of the city. This was a High Risk day from the Storm Prediction Center and the local media had been hyping up this event for the past week, still there were some people that did not take the warning seriously, as you can see in the video. This was about ten minutes before we moved northeast to get out of the way of the softball sized hail inbound and to get in the path of the cell out east of the metro. Be sure to check out Connor’s excellent tornado video from the red river that was taken about 90 minutes later. This video is not for rebroadcast, but a clean version of the video is available for media licensing.

Severe thunderstorms in the Dallas-area spawned at least one tornado Thursday. Authorities say the twister didn’t cause any significant damage or injuries, but several tractor trailers were tossed onto their sides along highway. (May 20)

Just another example of the awesome power that nature can dish out.

This is a sample of my Tropical Storm Gordon chase footage. This video was taken during Gordon’s slow and erratic movement near and over South Florida, from November 13-16, 1994. Gordon was a relatively disorganized tropical storm, however, it had a very large windfield and produced extended periods of tropical storm conditions over the southern peninsula. Originating in the Caribbean Sea, south of Jamaica, Gordon moved northward across Cuba, then turned west-northwest through the Florida Straits into the Gulf of Mexico and then recurved sharply to the northeast, finally making landfall near Fort Myers. Gordon’s maximum sustained winds were near 50mph with gusts near 70mph. The highest officially recorded winds in South Florida were sustained at 53mph from Virginia Key (near Miami) and a gust to 62mph at the Fowey Rocks lighthouse. I recorded a gust of 72kt (83mph) at my home in Southern Dade country, which was noted in the National Hurricane Center preliminary report on the storm. Highest winds in this video are sustained around 40mph, gusting to 60mph, and occur between 3min 40sec and 4min 30sec into the clip. After leaving Florida, Gordon restrengthend in the Atlantic and reached Hurricane strength offshore North Carolina.

This was taken hours prior to Hurricane Ike making landfall. Severe, widespread flooding had already begun.

Tropical Storm Fay stalled while passing over the Treasure Coast region of south Florida, causing extensive flooding. This is a quick informal look at the efforts made to evacuate residents.

Tropical Storm Fay was passing by for a visit. This is not the greatest footage, but it is the “real” tropical storm footage…not the “drama” that the news gives you. So you won’t see any dogs or cats…or cars…flying around. It’s only a tropical storm…not a Category 5 Hurricane. It was shot a couple hours after the first 3 clips. I took this from our front porch again while I was unsuccessfully trying to keep the water off my camera. And even staying “protected” on my porch, I was still soaked when I went back inside…again.(Clip #4)

Incredible video of the massive, damaging tornadoes that swept through Northern Illinois on June 7, 2008, shot by storm chaser Andrew Pritchard. This tornado was headed straight for South Chicago as it was exceeding 1/2 mile in width.

This is raw video footage in the front of my house of the Hurricane/Tropical Storm ‘Fay.’ I was on the porch, and the wind was tremendous… I don’t have the actual wind speed on this video recorded. I will show you pictures of the storm on my ipod that I took using the FREE Apple ipod Application called weatherbug (I know it’s a real company) (Download here (must have itunes first): phobos.apple.com ) For more information, leave a comment, but be aware that I might not be able to reply to all if I don’t know the answer… BUT I check my messages at least 3-10 times a day (I’m a youtube addict) Thank you everyone, subscribe, rate, comment, favorite
