I mean it’s only a cat. 1 storm. In Florida we don’t even put on the storm shutters for anything less than a cat. 2
They have half of New York evacuated.

Since hurricane season is right around the corner, I was thinking of doing some exterior updates to my house…storm shutters and whatnot. I was just curious if any of you have applied for the discounts they give with the “MY Safe Florida Home” program. A friend of mine told me today, that they denied her because her home was worth too much, and that the process was arduous.
Was it an easy process?
Would you say the process is worth the discount?
Im moving to miami next year with my best friend, were going to get an apartment and we were wondering (cause were from Mass, and have never been through a hurricane) do you landlords put up your storm shutters for you? cause i would totally fuck that up if i had to put them up
Ok thank you so i now know hurricanes are a clear danger in miami!!! and the best thing to do is evacuate, but who is responsibel for the apartment, must i put the storm shutters and everything else on the apt?
Thanks
Jeff
has increased from 0 to ,206 with my latest renewal! I don’t live in an area that has hurricanes very often either! I have had Metlife for over 20 years with never any claims. The only way to get a lower deductible is if I have unbreakable windows or motorized storm shutters. The premium has gone down 0 but I would rather have the 0 deductible.
Anyone else heard of this or is it just Metlife?
I live in Tyngsboro Massachusetts which is 35 miles from the ocean.
I am not the owner of the building. I do not pay rent but I provide continuous maintenance for the building both inside and out. I provide all protective insurance coverage, including hurricane coverage. I pay garbage pickup; water, electricity for security outdoor lighting; alarm system for the building; Installed protective storm shutters to the building. I pay continuous lawn maintenance; upkeep of parking lot; installed security fencing around building, etc. Does these things constitute a form of payment in lieu of rent? Does the building owner and I have a landlord/tenant relationship?
