Clean up underway after tornado hits
Clean up underway after tornado hits
Me and my friend snuck into this house through a window cause everything else was boarded down with wood. There seemed to be a fire, and the downstairs looks like a tornado blew over it.
I did a little research on the house after I got home. This is how it looks like now http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3515/3190484014_cca0e42432.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.flickr.com/photos/lisanne001/sets/72157603701994222/&usg=__bela_cmABm4U4wrW9wtmD5i66mc=&h=375&w=500&sz=245&hl=en&start=0&sig2=H-aOtIg4UdAXyEZRFVK8ZA&zoom=1&tbnid=mo6MHMKHR8eS0M:&tbnh=139&tbnw=195&ei=qBl4TfifMYfDgQe7psjPBQ&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dhouse%2Bon%2BOcean%2BParkway%2Bat%2BAvenue%2BU%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26rlz%3D1I7DLUS_en%26biw%3D979%26bih%3D602%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=390&oei=qBl4TfifMYfDgQe7psjPBQ&page=1&ndsp=12&ved=1t:429,r:11,s:0&tx=90&ty=121
The reason why we wanna fix and buy it is because it use to look like this http://www.flickr.com/photos/lisanne001/2503367760/in/set-72157603701994222/
Is it even possible for us to buy it? If so how much would repairs cost? And my friend is almost 18, I’m 16.
When my friend turns 18 she could buy it.
The April 3, 1956 Hudsonville/Standale Tornado that killed 17 people and injured 300. This is the only known color movie footage of the tornado and was taken from just north of Lake Michigan Drive northwest of Grand Rapids. This is the earliest known film footage of a tornado suction vortex, which can be seen forming on the west (left) side of the main tornado funnel. Damage footage of northwest Grand Rapids follows. 8mm home movie shot by Eugene Dohm, courtesy of Jim Bird.
My good friend went on a walking tour of Plainfield, IL with his video camera to capture tornado devastation on September 1, 1990. This clip is from near St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Index of all the clips is at roytaylor dot info.

This Tornado Outbreak was the most devastating and deadly Outbreak throughout American History-over 66 Tornados, one F5 and six F4, killed 48 people. The F5 Tornado (Bride Creek) was between 496 +-33 km/h , with 511km/h it was definetly the strongest Tornado ever noticed. Created with MAGIX Video easy HD

(This is a confirmed tornado: National Weather Service) I started filming to get an image of all the lightning, but then realized there was a black column from the sky down to the water on the left… The Statue of Liberty is barely noticeable directly above the tail end of the Pepsi truck. Notice how fast it all starts moving about a minute in… Then, watch the driving rain on surface of the water. There was a moment of snow that I think is not visible. The waves of what look like fog rolling is actually water in the air. I’m not sure if the building was hit with something… At one point I turn around and try to show the rug is being picked up by the draft from under the door… It’s all over in about 4 minutes.
1953 Flint / Beecher Michigan F - 5 tornado 116 life’s lost and 1000 injured. no Tornado since has a greater death toll, in America, still in the top ten disasters of American History,, two other very bad tornados that year one in the day after mothers day 1953 Waco Texas 114 life’s lost , and one in Worcester Massachusetts 94 life’s lost the next day after the Flint - Beecher tornado, it was the same storm cell that hit flint,, and it started in Texas
F5 Tornado hits Andover Kansas April 26, 1991. This is my never before seen original video. (Note-Time on clock is 3 hours slow) This video shows 9 minutes in the life cycle of a deadly F5 tornado. The tape ends about one minute before the tornado destroys a large portion of Andover Kansas and completely wipes out the Golden Spur Mobile home park, killing 13 and causing many injuries. At about the 3:00 minute mark you can see it go into a multiple vortex stage followed by the formation of a large wedge tornado. My video of the aftermath is linked in the video responses found below.
My 3rd Minitage!! Hope u enjoy!!
Following the tornado that struck Pampa, Texas on June 8, 1995, a second and larger tornado develops just outside town and tracks northeast toward Hoover. Veteran storm chaser and cinematographer Martin Lisius captures this F5 monster as it narrowly misses the Jordan Unit Prison. Note the prison watch towers where guards look on in terror. This tornado was so powerful, it stripped asphalt from local highways. Footage is copyrighted and available for license from StormStock (www.stormstock.com).
Roger Hill and crew put a camera in the path of an oncoming cow, and a tornado. Roger’s incredible book “Hunting Nature’s Fury” is available at www.wildernesspress.com.
1) Is it possible to pay for food on an airplane in midair using a credit card? If so, how does that authentication system work?
2) What is the maximum wind speed that makes it unsafe for a passenger airplane to fly through?
3) What would happen to a passenger aircraft if it flew through a hurricane or tornado? Was this more common in the early days of aviation?
4) Is it possible for a pilot to turn off the flight data recorder on a passenger airplane? Is this illegal?
5) Are pilots trained to recover a plane from a bird strike? Are pilots trained to recover a plane from a microburst? Are pilots trained to recover
6) Since the hours are so long and there’s not much time to see family and friends, what’s the motivation to become a pilot other than the pay? Is flying a plane really that fun after a few years?
7) Since being a fulltime pilot can be a very stressful job, how does the industry know if pilots become suicidal/homicidal? The pilots of SilkAir Flight 185 and EgyptAir Flight 990 are examples of mass murderers.
If all 300 passengers on a jumbo jet used their cell phones to make calls in midair all at the same time, what would happen to the plane?
9) How likely is the possibility of two planes colliding while one or both of them is near an airport flying a holding pattern?
10) If a terrorist near an airport on the ground wanted to jam the radio communications on a nearby plane about to land, how likely can he succeed?
11) If a long dormant volcano suddenly erupts and the ash covers the windshield of a plane nearby, how easily can the windshield wipers wipe it off? WHAT IF THE WIPERS MALFUNCTION? Does that mean that the pilots are essentially flying blind?
For 1), since credit card numbers can only be checked on the ground, does it get checked the moment the plane reaches the airport terminal gate? What’s the checking device? What if a passenger pays by credit card in midair, but it later turns out the card has been deactivated or is forged?
Here are some of the lesser known F5’s that have have barreled across the nation. I am currently in the works making a second video. EDIT: ok, it looks like a made a mistake. The Parkersburg tornado was an EF5 instead of an F5. there was a change in scale i think in February, 2007. not sure on the year. Thank You Dragonridley! some of these videos came from National Geographic. no copyright infringement intended for any of the selections used. all property right for said selections belongs solely to National Geographic.

Footage of the April 26, 1991 Red Rock, OK tornado as it passes near Highway 77, east of I-35. At this point, it was a very intense F5 tornado with exceptionally fast motions. Our photographer is struck from the west by very strong RFD (rear flank downdraft) winds and hail as the tornado passes to the north. Format: Standard-def video. Copyrighted. Do not copy.
Something I’ve noticed about myself is I get an adrenaline rush when something catastrophic happens. I felt like bouncing off the walls on 9/11. I felt excited during the tsunami or in the aftermath of hurricane katrina. I’ve had daydreams of life during a nuclear war, somehow imagining life would be more meaningful in such a situation. Every time we have a thunder storm or major winds I sit at the window hoping it gets worse. I think if I ever saw a tornado in real life I’d drive towards it and am not sure when common sense would take over. What do you think about this adrenaline rush I seem to get in the face of destruction?

The Jarrell Texas F5 Tornado Initially a weak pencil-like tornado near the Bell-Williamson County line, the funnel rapidly intensified into a 3/4 mile wide multi-vortex storm at around 3:45 PM CDT. Its first damage occurred three minutes later at 3:48 PM CDT in the northwestern portion of Jarrell striking Double Creek Estates. It later moved into a wooded area before dissipating after damaging numerous trees. Grass and dirt in fields near Jarrell were ripped out of the ground to a depth of 18 in or (50 cm). When the tornado crossed county roads outside Jarrell, it ripped 500 feet (150m) of asphalt off the roads. About 40 structures were completely destroyed by the tornado and dozens of vehicles were lifted in the air and tossed, some thrown more than half a mile. Many researchers, after reviewing aerial damage photographs of Double Creek Estates, considered the Jarrell storm to be the most violent tornado, in terms of damage intensity, that they had ever seen. Most of the homes in the tornadoes path were well-constructed and bolted to their foundations, but even so the tornado left only the slab foundations. Several entire families were killed in the tornado, including all five members of the Igo family and all four members of the Moehring family. There were 27 human fatalities in the Double Creek subdivision. In addition, about 300 cattle were killed by the storm. About 10 minutes prior to the main event, eye-witnesses spotted additional tornadoes north and west of …
The F5 tornado is moving through Walker, Michigan, the northwest suburbs of Grand Rapids This is a clip from an 8mm home movie taken by Eugene Dohm. Film transfer courtesy of Peterson Design Studio. Watch the suction vortices forming on the left side of the tornado. This is the earliest known film footage of suction vortices. The clip plays through twice. The footage of the funnel is taken looking northwest. The dark footage is looking northeast. The tornado funnel cannot be seen, but two blue flashes can be seen as electrical lines and transformers are hit by the tornado.
