Tornadoes fuelled by unusually warm air pummelled the south and midwest of the United States on Friday, killing at least six people and injuring dozens more across the states of Arkansas, Missouri and Illinois. The storm downed power lines and about eight thousand utility customers were left in the dark in Missouri on New Year’s Eve, according to a spokesman for the Missouri Department of Public Safety. This tornado was on the ground for 43 miles, it struck three communities, killing 9. Final assessment of the storm determined that it was an EF-5 tornado when it struck Parkersburg and New Hartford. Winds were estimated at 205mph.

A rare tornado struck a small town south of Portland on Tuesday, tearing roofs off buildings, hurling objects into vehicles and homes and uprooting trees. (Dec. 14)

I have a building design that locks the walls, roofs, and building body in place during impacts, wind-forces, and seismic-forces.

I have solved the linear joints areas of the building, and all that remains is solving the openings in the frames, the doors, windows, and vents.

With the building structural framework in a holding pattern during tornados, I’ve found that the doors, windows, will blow out, while the walls, roof, etc. stays put.

I’ve been able to also use the roof cavities as an escape route for any built-up internal wind and atmospheric pressure. I am far enough along to comfortably assess that these escape routes should be enough to depressurize the building interior during a tornado enough, that boarding up the windows and doors should keep the building safe through the tornado.

I think that continuous reinforcing makes it more controllable to protect your home and assets from tornados, because of the resulting change in physics of the frameworks.

My geography textbook is asking to find 6 tropical storms or tornadoes and i cant find a single one that includes:
1. A clear photo of the tornado
2. A detailed caption of the photograph.
the ones i have found are just photos or lists of tornadoes and only contain information such as " 60 people died"
please help me find one. it is already late and i still need to do another two essays of about 7 paragraphs and have a whole page of comprehension questions. PLEASE HELP!

I was attending a wedding rehearsal that I was hired to photograph as well as the wedding. I always arrive early to take photos of the church of every wedding I do. I was not on the clock yet, but I wanted to arrive extra early on this rehearsal because the weather forecast was calling for bad weather and maybe tornadoes, so I wanted to make sure I got the photos of the outside before it started to rain.

As I started to take my photos on this gloomy day, All of a sudden, the sky became really dark, and the clouds started to form right above the church. And I thought that I had better hurry because it was about to rain. Then the clouds slightly parted to allow this very illuminating light from the sky to show. Then the clouds started circling, counter clock-wise around this light. So I started snapping photos like crazy because I thought this was the start of a tornado. How great would it be to get a photo like this for the bride and groom over their church. I was excited because a tornado is something I never took pictures of……

Then, just as quickly as it started, was as quickly the clouds dissipated and it became just gloomy again. I thought how strange that was and just went on because the first person arrived for the rehearsal.

Later, I was looking back at all my photos to decide which to keep or delete to use for this wedding. And this is what I captured……

The first photo is this circle with an image on the ground of a little girl with blond cropped hair. Zoom in to see better.

The second photo is the circle that turned into this light being on the ground. The colors are spectacular.

I did not see these at the time of the photos. I was more focused on the sky. When I first saw the photos I had taken, I was going to delete these because I was in such shock and a little startled. Then I realized that these photos were something special.

Later, I showed my husband and he pointed out the figure of a lady which the clouds formed around the light in the sky also.

I have been a photographer for a long time and I have experience with lighting. These images are not sun spots, glare, reflection. I have never seen this before in my life. I have looked on all the ghost and spirit sites, and I find nothing like this..

I am not sure to even tell my experience or even show my photos. I have for the most part, shared these photos to close friends and family members only. My light being does not scare me or those I have shown. It gives good feelings.

I feel it may be time to share these photos with other people. Maybe these photos will comfort someone who has seen or had experiences with light beings, so they know that they are real. There is something after death. Energy does not end.

I know some people are going to try and say I fixed these photos and there are going to be people who will not believe this and I’m ok with that now. I assure, these are true photos that are not tampered with or fixed. I still have the original chip negative it was taken with.

When I first showed family and friends, some would ask me if I fixed these, and those comments would upset me. Now, I do not care what anyone thinks. I know these are true photos.

Then I am asked what I think it is, an angel, Jesus, Virgin Mary, a spirit.
My answer is, I don’t know. I am no one special, but was chosen, for what ever reason to take the photos, that’s it.

Here was one mother of a storm! Hurricane Ivan devastated the Gulf Coast from Gulf Shores to Pensacola, Florida. Experience nine minutes of raw footage shot by Brian Osburn over the course of the storm! See transformers blow starting at 8:00 PM with lights out at 8:22 PM. Close your eyes and listen to the night hurricane wreak havoc in his grandmother’s front yard. Listen for the tornado that flew right over her house, only to land across the street…devastating her daughter’s (my aunt’s) home! This is one unbelievable storm and second only in impact to my Hurricane Dennis footage! Had Ivan hit during daylight hours, I would’ve caught all the damage being done at my grandmother’s home! The second photo is the light circle that turned into this light being on the ground. The color of the light ball is the same color as the bottem of the light being. The colors are spectacular. They were taken 13 seconds apart.

I did not see these at the time of the photos. I was more focused on the sky. When I first saw the photos I had taken, I was going to delete these because I was in such shock and a little startled. Then I realized that these photos were something special.

Later, I showed my husband and he pointed out the figure of a lady which the clouds formed around the light in the sky also.

I want to see if I remember my facts right about tornadoes. Tornadoes are low pressure centers right? So the wind around them gets pulled toward the center of the tornado, at least until it gets caught in the rotation and gets pulled in and up, is that right?

I was just wondering, because I was watching the Weather Channel a while back, one of the It Could Happen Tomorrow episodes about a tornado hitting the DC area. They said it’s happened before, and showed this photo http://www.erh.noaa.gov/lwx/Historic_Events/michaelshore-tornadoorig-DC2.jpg with the Washington Monument in the background. But the flag in the foreground is blowing AWAY from the tornado, or at least on an angle away from it. Shouldn’t it be blowing the other direction? Is it just because the tornado was a smaller one and is still pretty far away? Or is the photo a fake? (If it is, some people are going to be pretty embarrassed on this one, not only was the photo used by the Weather Channel, but I got the link for the NOAA website).

I have a horrible reoccurring dream about an elevator. It’s always the elevators at the hospital, and most of the time the malfunction is where the elevator car goes up and down erratically. Last week I had the same dream, and the car hits bottom. It’s always scary and I can never control the elevator.

The related dream is also at the hospital, and I’m running away from someone and I have to go up into the non-patient areas to escape from my assailant. Most of the time the spot that I am hiding in looks like a warehouse with beige walls and extra tall doors and metal staircases all over the place.

The third hospital dream is that I am sitting in a hallway with lots of windows and a hurricane or a tornado is coming and I’m just sitting there watching it come.

The hospital is where my son was born in Oct 05′, and I worked there for 3 years up until he was born.

Railroad surveilance video captures train derailed by a Tornado January 7, 2008 in Havard, IL The tornado moved across the Chicago and Northwestern railroad where it blew 12 railroad freight cars off the track. The train was moving at the time the tornado hit it…so as the main engine stopped…the remaining cars on the track continued along it and slammed into the front part of the train. This caused a few more cars to derail…including one containing hazardous materials that caused the evacuation of the town of Lawrence. I am an adult that came here from Wisconsin 5 years ago. I try to explain that it is much worse than a blizzard or anything like that. And then i get questions like, "Don’t you just want to go stand out in the hurricane and watch it?" Haha. I’m like, "It’s NOT a tornado." There’s no spectacle. Just extremely high dangerous life threatening winds with debris and heavy objects falling all around you. And flooding. Terrible flooding. New Orleans type flooding sometimes. Live power lines down. And the hardest part I have is describing how long it messes up the community. It can put everything on hold for weeks and maybe months. I get the craziest questions about hurricanes. And when folks say, "Man I wouldn’t live in Florida because of the hurricanes," then I say, "You can prepare for a hurricane. But you can’t really prepare for gut wrenching super low Florida wages." And that’s when I think of that stupid Wal-Mart smiley face.
