Terrified of TS Hannah! Help!!?
I’ve been watching Tropical Storm Hannah all night, and it has hit land from what i see, I’m not exactly sure when its going to move up to virginia, but right now i’m freaking out! I’ve never had to go through any tropical storm, tropical depression, hurricane, tornado, or anything else of that sort, so to hear that the tropical storm is going to be hitting virginia is freaking me out!! I really want to go to bed right now, but i’m afraid if i do, i’ll wind up sleeping through it and well….I wont wake up, I’m on the 2nd floor which definitely doesn’t help, but I can’t go downstairs to sleep either, we have no inside rooms in our house, and our bathtub is on an outside wall, so I don’t really see how that could help in the event of a tornado happening, anyway, as you can see I have a HUGE fear of storms, and so idk if I should really be worried at this point, or if its just my phobia….any thoughts on this? or on how i can get over this fear…?

Relax…first off. All this will be is a glorified rain storm with a few gusts of wind. Ike is the one to keep your eyes on.
Calm down. I’m in Virginia as well. The most weather will not begin in earnest until around 8 am. You should be concerned, but not freaking out about it. If are truly that upset you could go to a shelter. If you are in Hampton Roads, each city has one hurricane shelter opened right now. Check the news. Either way, it will blow thru here fairly quick. Try relaxing in bed watching tv until you fall asleep. I will pray for you if that is okay.
oh get over it….it’s just a pissy little tropical storm, not even near a hurricane…..
the tornado threat is there but exaggerated and the odds of it striking you directly are slim to none…..less than 1/2 of 1%……i’ve been through a cat 2 hurricane and lived to tell about it…..and was in SC when Hugo came through….the higher up you are the better……you go to sleep on the ground floor and have a storm surge and then you might really not wake up…..but with this storm that’s unlikely as well. you’re going to be fine. if you were really THAT worried about it, then why didn’t you just go 100 miles inland and get a hotel for the night?
you’ll be fine.
