Hurricane Victims pay for their own rescues?
Current mood: aggravated
I am sorry, but I believe all these people should have to pay the bill for their individual rescues! When they issue a “certain death” warning and you are fucking dumb enough to stay, you do not deserve free aid. I watched people being interviewed on the news claiming they bought a bunch of beer and BBQ to sit through the storm. I bet these same people are crying for help as I type. This is fucking stupid! Why should we have to foot a dime for these dumbasses that ignored these warnings?
FREE transportaion was provided, many buses left half empty. FREE shelters were provided, many not filled up. People value MONEY and POSESSIONS more than their own lives? IDIOTS!
I feel like we reward stupidity in this country, and this is the perfect example of it. What do you guys think?
edited note:: I never said they should DIE, I said if they value their MONEY and POSSESSIONS more thn their own LIVES they should have to pay for endangering the lives of rescue workers, and sucking up more money this government DOESN’T have. someone claimed they didnt want to lose their job…I wasn’t aware the bank was open that day!”

I am not sure I disagree…… they were issued a mandatory evacuation and told if they were staying they were facing certain death and to write their social security numbers on their arms so that they could be identified……
Now, I don't know about you but if I am stupid enough to stay when they tell you to leave and this hurricane was dang near the size of your whole state you deserved to have to pay the bill for your rescue. It is not different than being charged for having an ambulance come to your aid. The ambulance company sends you a bill…. so why not get a bill from local emergency services for your rescue….
For the love of Mike let's don't give them $2,000 cards so they can get lap dances and designer handbags talk about a waste……

I completely agree. They were told, and insisted to leave, and they were dumb enough to stay?! Once again, this will somehow be blamed on Bush.
If you are notified that your local government has ordered mandatory evacuations and you disobey that order. And then you need rescued I can see the local government receiving some compensation from you.
We do reward stupidity, and maybe we should start issuing signs…

I think that if you stay knowing that it is most likely death and you make it through then want someone to rescue you, then yes you should be charged a fee to go get your dumb butt.
All these people that sayed in galveston and made it through, have no running water, no electricty,no food, what the hell were they thinking.
and now want someone to come get them? Whats up with that. Stupid is all I know, yes they should be charged a fee.
Not only hurricans victims, but people that get lost hiking on a mountian.
I’ll tell you this- when I heard the weather service was telling people who stayed that they faced “Certain Death” I would have been out of there! I have never heard such a strong statement! And anyone who had kids that stayed should face child endangerment charges! If you live on the coast you know you face hurricanes & you need to have the resources available to leave. Even those who don’t could have gotten out. Yes I think they should have to pay for their own rescue.
I am VERY sorry for all of those people and plan on sending a donation.
