Just saying "I'm collecting for ...(cause).." doesn't do much for folk who don't know you and have no way of verifying your intent. Insurance will certainly cover some costs. Perhaps the best you can do is to tap into organizations that are already working in your community....Volunteer your time, and energy..,,,and if they want a fund raiser they can give you the guidance and credentials to follow through.
