Typhoon Koppu Blasts Hong Kong - James Reynolds Insane Storm Chaser Footage
On the evening of 14th September 2009 typhoon Koppu passed to the south of Hong Kong bringing extreme winds and pounding storm surge. Fellow storm chaser Andrew Glanville and I recorded a wind gust of 98mph and filmed winds well in excess of 100mph.

Just amazing how you are getting all of this incredible footage this year of typhoons James! The one storm chaser that seems to be getting extreme storm footage this year for 2009! Fantastic Video!!!
I am from Hong Kong but this typhoon is nothing compared with the ones in Florida or Carribean every year
Those are hurricanes…
It was horrible on that nite!! Video is great , thx to James.
???????????????…
o my God!!!
Typhoon in Pacific Ocean = Hurricane in Atlantic Ocean
Both are the same, just naming difference.
Nice Job
????????????..
???????,,,
Those chasers w/o safety precautions are putting their own lives at risk. There should be some casualties before the public realise that it’s rather dangerous to go out “enjoying” the typhoon
Nice job done, James, you risked your life in doing so, well appreciated, but not another time, okay? I notice that your reporting is great but if you rehearse more to cut off the speech fillers, you could become a great news reporter. Bravo.
Waku1976- Hurricanes and typhoons are the same thing, just different names for different areas of the globe. The SuperTyphoon to the east of the phillipines right now is equivalent to a category 4 hurricane, and will intensify to cat 5.
more nice than the tvb atv n nowtv

This is hilariously bad, whooo “it’s certainly a serious situation for Hong Kong” lolz you make it sound like it’s the first one in HK’s history! I’d have given you a rating if a used condom had come flying out of the water at 2:59 and choked that pillock standing on the pier though!
Please hurt yourself soon on one of these ‘Insane Storm Chaser’ expeditions, thanks. F*&king Dorothy would be spinning in her grave.
agree, rent a ship and visit choi wan NOW

Actually taking wind speed measurements with a digital anemometer
I would love to be in a typhoon or a hurricane, I almost had a chance to experience hurricane Adrian down here in El Salvador back in 2005. But, the storm fizzled out before landfall.
is the guy at 2:29 trying to give the storm the bird?
