What do you think BP is going to do when Hurricane season hits?
And all the plumes of oil get steered around like a huge salad dressing? You know that many of the oil clean up product that have been turned down you can’t retrieve the oil back out of it like a sponge.BP is hoping to still retrieve the oil and us it.When the hurricanes come that will be impossible.Think about this,a hurricane will suck this stuff up and disperse it over land.By Auguste comes it will be a rill big mess and the storms will hamper the use of the relief wells being used.

Umm, June is the beginning of hurricane season, so it’s already here
Cry in a corner?
Hurricanes are the Earth’s way of cleaning the ocean and shoreline
Hide behind the coattails of their Republican protectors.
same thing anyone does in a hurricane , hold onto your hat.
what are you going to do when the Apocalypse comes.
To answer the question… Pray. Not much else they can do but hope the hurricanes steer clear for a while.
I understand there is some mixed feelings on the part of "experts" about this. Yes, it will spread the oil wider.. but by doing so it will also thin it out, perhaps causing less damage overall as it would not be hitting anywhere in as high of concentration. Not sure how I feel about either one.
Some folks say there is nothing the government can do, and the fact is the govt’s options are quite limited. However they COULD be mobilizing more assets, leasing tankers and equipment, etc.. and start sucking more oil out of the water before it reaches shore. They could also get out of the way of state authorities who want to build up the sand berms on the barrier islands. Screw the environmental impact studies… the impact could not possibly be worse than the oil hitting the mainland wetlands.
It’s here–they just better pray that the forecasters are wrong about it being an active season.
the hurricanes are already on the way. crazier than the swirling all that crap up into giant gobs is an extreme hurricane could aerosolize the oil, turn it into a mist flying on the wind. that means it could go far inland. this is a mess, a huge international disaster.
hurricanes wont suck oil up and rain it out, oil dont evaporate. But hurricanes do raise the ocean surface 10-30 feet maybe more, this is called storm surge, and that will drive oil up to 10 miles inland before the water rushes out to sea again
with that said bp will be in trouble, oil will spread everywhere and more money will needed to be payed to the people it effects, a huge mess for them
Doing about as much as it is doing now.
The season is here. To the poster above, how will republicans protect BP? Please share your intelligent insight with the forum.
yes, its such a shame. if that happens there will be ‘deadspots’ throughout our waters
The timing of this oil spill could not have been worse as far as coming right before Hurricane season. Last night, during a program about the disaster, the comment was made that as storms make their way into the Gulf….ships are going to have to be taken back to shore….and that the only measures to deal with the spewing oil that can still go on are underwater applications of dispersants.
While I watched the program last night, I was nearly sick to my stomach. The damage down there is unbelievable, and what we have done to our country by not controlling the oil companies any better than we have…..is just unbelievable.
There are hundreds of oil rigs in our waters installed the same way that the problem oil rig is installed. The possibility they can malfunction is very real. How’s that for a Saturday morning something to think about?
