Hurrcane Ike has seemed to have spared Florida for the moment. The speed of an approaching front, and the size of a high pressure system covering the state, are the major factors that will decide if Hurricane Ike will continue moving west or begin to take a turn to the north towards Florida.
As of now, Hurricane Ike is projected continue on a westerly path into the Gulf, where it could potentially take the same path as Gustav.
For more information on Hurricane Ike and its projected path, you can visit the National Hurricane Center -http://ratfish.nhc.noaa.gov/index.shtml or http://hurricaneike2008.wordpress.com.
Cat 4. Another one dodged by Florida

um right now it is headed for around galveston/corpus christi.but i think it will change. it sounds like you live in florida so you probly have experience with hurricanes. as we all knnow the paths are constantly changing….look at hurricane gustav. im very very glad it did what it did and not come toward us but it changed so much that everyone from past port arther (texas) to halfway down alabama evacuted. because no one new what was gonna happen. weather.com is a veryaccurate site and the projected path is always updated, it is a four right now
An easy way to track Ike is with http://www.USAMediaGuide.com. It has a special section of links to:

Ike is our third super-hurricane that’s becoming the new trend in such storms that solidifies proof we face epic climatic changes on Earth.
Before Florida sighs relief being Ike’s near miss—expect Miami to get hit with Ike’s winds even though the storm will likely "miss" Florida’s coast. These super-hurricanes are epically HUGE in length.
Katrina and Gustav came in being 400 miles long and even the near miss areas of those storms saw power outages, flooding and wind damage akin to a closer strike.
Should Miami evacuate? Wouldn’t hurt to—but that’s their call.
Ike’s strike zone covers Florida’s panhandle all the way to Texas / Mexico coast; it’s a dice roll once any hurricane enters the Gulf of Mexico.
Here’s an interactive online Hurricane tracker part to a local New Orleans TV news station site I think might help keep an eye on Ike’s path.

Well The thing is its a range of New Orleans and a little portion of north mexico.
One of the scariest things is that Hurricane Ike its following the path of the 1900 hurricane that hit Galveston and devastated it.
Right know it’s a category one and it’s 80mph.
It’s coming for Corpus Christi, I think they’re going to evacuate us tomorrow, I go to A&M Corpus and live on campus, so they’re usually pretty good about letting students out.
Speaking of wind, this Fla. county is getting a wind
from this today. I have a 9 pound dog, how
strong would the wind have to be to carry her off?
Can anyone tell me? I know it kinda sounds
funny but I am still wondering.
I hope this is not bad to wherever it is going
to.
South Texas/Mexico.
