I think the state waited a couple days after it hit before asking for help. I don't remember. But seriously, how do you plan and prepare for an entire city to be wiped out. Blame FEMA all you want. I think everyone wanted to help and do what they could. What I wonder is what they did with all that casino money? And they new the levies were faulty. So who's really to blame? Our city had several bus loads of people come to our civic center as a shelter. You should have seen how everyone pulled together and volunteered to help. No one asked if you were rep or dem. Blaming Bush is just a joke. Democrats will blame anything they can on him. Well, not all dems but a lot do it blindly without researching anything. Then there are others have their heads on straight. Katrina was such a massive disaster!
