Why do the Global Warming Believers Abandon Science to Believe in Global Warming?
Science has several basic rules that need to be followed to prove an idea, or theory.
1) The data needs to be repeatable. With "Global Warming" even NASA can’t get their numbers to come out the same when they crunch the numbers as they first had 1998 as the warmest year, then 1934, then 2006. Since the numbers aren’t repeatable, then science dictates that they are not proof of anything.
2) Other scientists need to get the same results. Now that the data has been deleted, there is no way the data can be verified, checked, or repeated by anyone else. Science dictates that all conclusions resulting from these numbers cannot prove any theory.
3) The theory should be tested. 30 years ago, computer models stated that today’s climate temperatures would be 15 degrees warmer than today, there would be more hurricanes and tornado’s, and floods and droughts would ravage the planet on a biblical scale. None of this has happened, yet believers still hold to the position that these computer models are accurate. Science states that if the theory can’t be calculated, then it doesn’t exist.
So why do believers just abandon all scientific principals and believe something that can’t pass basic scientific standards?
Do they have other non scientific motives?

Because they have spent the last 20 years playing video games in their mothers basements and this is a way for them to leave the house and interact with other socially awkward people.

probably most hope to benefit from it financially in some way

Be afraid. Be very afraid.
Mostly because as smart as the physicists involved in GW studies think they are, they forget to get advice from people who may more more on that subject. The entire climate modeling process falls under 3 problems:
1.) When modeling a chaotic system, in order to make accurate predicitons about the future, your initial startijng point values must be very accurate. The global temp data is far from accurate and differ between reporting agencies by up to .5 degree in a month.
2.) You can not use your model of a chaotic system for a long period of time. While I have no doubt that they can at some point have models that are accurate enough to predict out to the next month, they will never be accurate to predict out to the next year and certainly not out to the next 100 years.
3.) If your computer model shoots off into infinity or negative infinity while the system you are modeling has never done that, it is sign that your model is wrong, not that the system will shoot off to infinity.
I am not sure that AGW physicists know this. If they do, then they are arrogant SOBs who are afraid to admit that there are things that even they with their big brains can not find the answers to.
Now why the scientific community has allowed this farce to go on so long without giving credence to people who actually understand the difficulties of modeling a chaotic system is beyond me. For that, I think you have to follow the money.

So why do believers just abandon all scientific principals and believe something that can’t pass basic scientific standards?
