Why does my car insurance with Geico contain a charge for a Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund Emergency?
Why am I being taxed this just because I buy car insurance?
Isn’t this a Big crock of Crap?

Yes, sounds like a crock. You may want to try a website that compares multiple companies at once to get you the best price. I am paying less than ½ after I did.

Take care,

Homeowners will tell you that Florida is in the grips of an house insurance crisis. The charge is the Government’s way of trying to make it affordable for private insurers to insure homes in the state. The fund covers any damage in excess of the insurers ability to cover.
I guess that they are sharing the burden around, including to non home owning car owners.
I have a whole web site about the insurance crisis. http://www.FloridaHomeownerInsurances.com
